The aftermath of Taylor-Chavez,Taylor was never the same fighter after that fight.Today he slurs his words, boxing has damaged his health
Arguello more or less calling it quits in the 2nd Pryor fight. Every time I watch that fight I keep hoping it ends different but it never does.
The winner was crying for the loser after that one. Ditto Marciano after Louis. (Years later, Arguello joked about having given up, but later called it quits on life. Pryor-Arguello II thus became a disturbing and unsettling precursor to the final fate of one of our heroes.)
Im not so sure about that. The ref followed the rules to the letter. Why should Chavez be punished? Taylor didnt say he was okay.
After Ring fatalities; for me the ending of the 15 round fight, was the final act of the Classic version of the sport.
Rumble in teh jungle [cheating by Team-Ali [poison, loose ropes] Old Foreman gettin ROBBED VS Briggs Foreman getting ROBBED VS Jim Young
Bradley Rone probably has one of the saddest stories in boxing. Taking a fight to pay for his mothers funeral the day after her death and having a heart attack in the ring and dying.....Also any other ring death would be the saddest moments but as for other sad moments: Robinson-Maxim. Robinson handily wining the fight but in 104 degree heat suffered extreme heat exhaustion, physically unable to come out rd 14. That must have been heatbreaking for him, so close to winning the light heavyweight title.
Looking at Joe Louis -- a virtual God to me growing up -- only a few feet away, limp on the ring apron after being knocked out by Rocky Marciano.
