Not sure if this has been done but would enjoy reading the Classic's opinon's and reasoning for such a list. Lynch, Buchanan and Watt, where would they all be ? Would Gary Jacob's be in it ? Thank's :good
i like this thread! plenty of scots on this forum and plenty of posters know way more about this than me so i won't even try. still, i see buchanan and lynch in the top spots, with both having arguments for number one
My thoughts exactly and Popkins named the one eluding me, Paterson. Not read a lot on him but it made me wonder if there's other fighter's from back in those day's, that would make up the Top 10.
Wasnt patterson murdered in south africa or am i thinking of someone else? Peter Kane has to be there too
:good Calderwood, forgot him. I worked with his nephew last year and he lost his head in a car crash i think. As said, would be nice to see where people have them. Wasnt McGowan only amatuer ? Of course, his record was exceptional :thumbsup
At the moment, I am drawing a mental blank, so much so that my top 5 currently is as follows: 1. Rowdy Roddy Piper 2. William Wallace 3. Rob Roy 4. Robert The Bruce 5. Kenny Dalglish
:good His son is a brickie and does loads of work for the company I work for. Does anybody think Calderwoods win over Willie Pastrano is the best ever win by a Scottish fighter? Or is Buchanan's over Laguna better?
McGowan was British, Empire and World flyweight champ. He was also British and Empire bantamweight champ. All as a pro. Your thinking of Dick McTaggart. A truly great amateur. Dick won gold at the 56 olympics and the Val Barker trophy. He won bronze in 1960 along with 5 ABA titles.
1. Joe Frazier 2. Mike McCallum 3. Sam McVey 4. James Scott 5. Kirkland Laing 6. Alex Stewart 7. Lennox 8. Oliver McCall 9. Duke Mckenzie 10. Kennedy McKinney
Nah Buchanan vs Laguna I for me definitly. This thread should be written totally in scots. I would hae it 1. Buchanan 2. Lynch 3. McGowan 4. Paterson 5. Watt Are the locks for top place.
