Roger Mayweather Freddie Roach Floyd Mayweather Sr. "Brother" Nazim Richardson Emmanuel Steward That guy who trains Vitali Klitschko Kevin Cunningham Adam Booth Enzo Calzaghe Nacho Beristein If you guys have more please share ... I feel some trainers are better suited for the Amateurs instead of pros but nonetheless they are all top notch in their own way, but the guys I listed above are the best of the best -
Great list ,what about Dan Birminham or Jeff Fench not sure if thats how you spell it and lets not forget Ronnie Sheilds .
Ronnie Shields did a great job with Cintron, but as far as those two guys from Texas ... passh!! Dan Birmingham is great but hasn't had a fighter of note since Dawson and Lacy left him ... and Winky is on the down slide of his career.
I think Unca Roger is a bit over rated, he has only had a string of luck with his nephew, hasnt really done much out side of Floyd Jr, Roach is more established..... So is Nazim Richardson...
roach, richardson, steward, i've always like joe goosen even though he has been out of the picture lately.bernstein is good. the best kept secret is someone that lives in oakland california by the name of dee pooler. he trained luisito esponiza on the downside of his career. if pooler trained him when he was in his prime he'd be making a lot of noise.
Fleshing out an all-ESB top 20 might be an interesting challenge (so we can see - and rank - some tier-2 names like Buddy and Pocket Rocket). :think
Altough I don't like their style, you should add Fritz Sdunek and Ulli Wegner too, they produced as many champ if not more than the guys on your list. I personally don't think there's such a thing as a "best trainer", because how do you judge that if ultimately it's the fighter and the fighter's talent that producuses the result. There are "great trainers" out there obviously, maybe I could do a personal top 10 list, but I believe in in "great fighter-trainer relationships" more. Now THAT'S where I can easily name a top10 (or not so easily). If I could choose one trainer or gym though, I'd probably favor Nazim. Then again, it's a subjective choice.
Isn't Sdunek the guy who trains Klitschko? ... I don't know that guy's name but he's top notch ... It's not the same guy who trains Oktey Urkel ... right? And for the Record ... Unca Rogah isn't overrated, he's a top notch trainer, I don't think that he's allowed to have many top notch trainers ... and not to say anything about his nephew Floyd but Rogah has a stable of up and coming fighters ... he won't lose with Floyd's son ...
There's only a couple of Euro trainers who are top notch and I say Booth, the guy who trains Klitschko ... not the guy who trains Abraham ... and Enzo Calzaghe ... The rest of the best come from the US ... Cunningham is extremely underrated ... many fighters would benefit from his training ... Unca Rogah Emmanuel Steward (but only with a fighter who has the ability to listen willing to learn) - Michigan trainers are a cut above. I like Buddy Mcgirt but he doesn't have a fighter (including his son) who listens to him, but he fell off quite a bit. Brother Nazim is good ... he has Hopkins, Shane, and his own son Rock Alllen ... Nacho has a complete stable of top notch fighters FMS is one of the best defensive trainers in the biz ... not too many out there like him ... he trains his fighters to be aware and to box ... Freddie Roach ... probably one of the most accomplished of the modern era ... he's worked with some great fighters and has had success if they listened to him ... I just wonder how Roach would've with a fighter who was up and coming but not as raw as Pacquiao ... Roach teaches effective aggression (which I like - along with Unca Rogah) Other than those guys there isn't many that compare ... Ronnie Shields is good but his best job in my opinion was Kermit Cintron ... The guy who trains Rey Bautista is pretty good and so is the guy who (used to train) Edwin Valero ... Oh and one of my favorites (despite the bull****) is Margarito's trainer ... an excellent conditioning trainer ...
