If I was to make a list of the greatest Puerto Rican fighters of all time, you want me to include Julian Jackson (Virgin Islands)? Or how 'bout I make a list of the 12 Greatest Heavyweights of All Time:

    1. Sugar Ray Robinson
    2. Muhammad Ali
    3. Joe Louis
    4. Roberto Duran
    5. Henry Armstrong
    6. Carlos Monzon
    7. Archie Moore
    8. George Foreman
    9. Ezzard Charles
    10. Pancho Villa
    11. Jose Napoles
    12. Emile Griffith

    Great heavyweight list, huh?

It's a joke, man, I would rank Griffith very high as well. Should have known you would say that tho.

I rank him higher as a heavyweight as well personally, my heavyweight list looks a lot like yours bar your joke ranking of Griffy.

I think it's more complex, but mostly this.

The absolute worst off often don't have the opportunity

    4. John L Sullivan
    5. Jack Dempsey
    6. Max Schemling
    7. Jack Sharkey
    8. Vitali Klitchsko

    #10. Tyson Fury
    #9. Jack Sharkey
    #8. Jerry Quarry
    #7. Max Baer
    #6. Vitali Klitschko
    #5. James J Jeffries
    #4. Jack Dempsey
    #3. Max Schmeling
    #2. Rocky Marciano
    #1. Wladimir Klitschko

Wlad is definitely #1, Marciano definitely #2 imo. After that it's close but I've always stood by saying that Jeffries' and Dempsey's résumé are so overrated I don't think they're greater than Schmeling but it's close enough for me to not really give a toss. After that, there's a bunch of guys who are up next. Vitali, Sharkey, Baer, Fury, Sullivan, Quarry ect. Now, I'll be completely honest and just say I know nothing about Sullivan's main opposition (aside from Mitchell) so I didn't rank him. How I split the others should be followable by just weighing up the merits of those guys. Bob Fitzsimmons i s a good name to tie it all up, but like @BitPlayerVesti had in his list, Tunney is acceptable.

H2H Fury, Wlad, and Vitali would dominate imo.

I think there's a clear gap between Jeffries (who broadly beat the best of his division barring the twilight of his reign), and Dempsey (who failed to do so)
