It is very difficult for me to separate Natie Mann, Vitali Klitschko and Hamed on my list for this purposes.

I didn’t want to completely not include pre 20s…but it’s hard to gauge individuals with no film and the film we do have shows a completely different sport. I know some things like gloves plays a role but that’s a whole other discussion.

I see zero problem with Chuvalo and Morris being there. They have way better top wins then those below them and put up good efforts in losing battles against good to great opposition. As you can see on my list there are some fighters no ones probably ever heard of. Being known isn’t a requirement.

Fitz was misplaced…don’t necessarily look at placement as much as who made the list. Generally speaking men like Quarry and Schmeling are super close in ranking. I gave Quarry the nod by a spot or two due to I think he looks better on film and beat just as good opposition. If anything Quarry is probably slightly deeper.

    Lyle has wins over
    Oscar Bonavena
    Jimmy Ellis
    Earnie Shavers
    Joe Bugner
    Jose Luis garcia
    Larry Middleton
    Buster Mathis
And a few more…he’s more then earned his spot. Most people on this list and many ahead of him don’t have a list this good

The further back you go the more question makes one gets. Liston, Fraizer, ad Quarry are too high.So is Marciano. Holmes, Vitaly Kiltschko, Bowe, and Tunney are too low.

What makes Chuvalo better than Uzcudun? Or Tommy Farr?
How are their resumes comparable? Schmeling beat Louis, Sharkey, Hamas, Stribling, Uzcudun, Walker and Risko. Please, tell me who Quarry has on his resume to be comparable with that - rookie Lyle? Shavers? Old Patterson who arguably beat him?
Bonavena was shot. Ellis was past his prime. The rest is nothing special.

That’s your opinion and you’re free to it. Bowe and Tunney were misplaced. And meant to be top 25 guys. I respectfully disagree on the other placements. Think they’re fine

Much to go over…ok Chuvalo wins over Quarry, Williams, Jones, Cleroux and very good showings against others is good enough for me.

Quarry with wins over Patterson (young not old), Lyle, Mac Foster, Spencer, Mathis, Shavers, London x2, is very comparable with Schmeling. Lyle is grossly underrated. Think people overestimate how difficult it is to consistently compete against top notch fighters and escape with wins. Most fighters considered “great” only have a handful of good wins. Lyle has earned his worth.

maybe Uzcudon has a case I honestly forgot about him when making this list. But that’s why it’s posted and up for corrections where they may lie.

We can agree to disagree on other points, but I won't let you win this one :)

Schmeling has 2 wins better than Quarry's best. Schmeling beat two of the best fighters of his era (Louis, Sharkey), while Quarry got dominated by Ali and Frazier. On top of that, Quarry lost to the other best fighters he faced - Ellis, Chuvalo and Norton (I won't count his loss vs Machen).

Then Max next tier wins (Stribling, Hamas, Uzcudun) are clearly better than Foster, Spencer, Mathis and Shavers. I don't see any reason to pick Quarry ahead of Schmeling. Max should be in the Charles/Patterson/Walcott tier, not Quarry...

Any top heavyweight list that has Mike Tyson in the top 10 is a good list to me

Don’t start…you’ll bring back the Bruno threads lol. He probably could have been dropped to the 50s somewhere. It’s not perfect to my likening either. But he like Lyle is better then given credit for

I would rank Lyle a lot higher than Bruno.
Bruno's "resume" is just plain weak.

Just comparing your 100 with my top 125, two crucial points, mine was on resume only(with a spice of my bias!) and gave equal weight to 1890-1920. Therefore I had Jackson, Corbett, Goddard, Slavin, Maher, Sharkey, Ed Martin, Hart, Gunboat, McCarty, Fulton, Clarke, Norfolk, Greb, Gibbons,Miske, Root, McCoy, places that makes my list a weird 105. Out for me went Galento, Toles, LaStarza, Satterfield, Savold, Mauriello, Schaaf, Barrett, Pastrano, Walker, Nova, Sanders, Simon and Mann. I had Godfrey, Middleton,Peralta, Farr, Leon, Bonecrusher, Tucker(surely?) Chagaev, Valuev, Toney, Golota, Tubbs, and Thomas. You like the 1940's and 1950's, I'm more up for the 2020's and 1980's. None of your picks are crazy IMO and I'll leave the positions for now.
