Well you are patently wrong about him never showing his skills against elite heavyweights. In addition, Like I said he beat arguably the best fighter ever at any weight multiple times. Hard to discount that. Other than that he never lost in the ring. He certainly never got Ko'd by anyone like Lewis or Wlad did.
1.Lewis/Vitali 2.Bowe 3.Wlad 4.Holyfield 5.Tyson 6.Holmes 7.Frazier 8.Clay 9.Motivated Witherspoon 10.Foreman 11.Rahman 12.Briggs
1-Muhammad Ali 2-Lennox Lewis 3-Mike Tyson 4-Larry Holmes 5-George Foreman 6-Vitali Klitschko 7-Wladimir Klitschk 8-Evander Holyfield 9-Riddick Bowe 10-Joe Loius Couple points I wanna make. 1- Riddick Bowe seem to be either under rated or over rated. The truth of the matter is Bowe at his very best was a monstrous 6'5 super heavy with great skills, very good power, and a very good/great chin. People will say 'well his prime was so short'.. but what the hell is the point of 'h2h' if you are not using a fighter's peak? So it don't really matter if the fighter's prime is 2 months or 20 years.. you are using the best version of that fighter. 2-Vitali Klitschko is only on this list because of his size and chin. He is ALWAYS suspect for having paper skin and quitting issues. Vitali might very well be a top 7 h2h heavyweight.. but remember the guy can QUIt on you at any time.
My friend, Dempsey is the only elite heavyweight he fought and he had been off for a good long while. P4p I rate Tunney highly for the fighters he beat at 175. But h2h against heavyweights I just think its unreasonable to give him a top 10 ranking. And going by newspaper accounts its arguable he was 2-2-1 against Greb. Just sayin...
size does matter. ali trouble every round with foreman, before he kod foreman. but lets not forget, wlad is taller, has a longer reach than foreman and much more important a prime wlad is more patient than foreman and doesnt lose all his energy in trying to ko ali, he would ud ali in a boring 12 round descision. his ring IQ is better than foremans ever was. prime tyson beats prime frazier 100 %. in every categorie, bigger, stronger, harder puncher, faster, better movemants, overall more athletic. joe would be a cruiserweight today, he would be smaller than david haye, absolutly no chance vs klitschko or tyson. Good job of specifying H2H, that eliminates a lot of confusion with posters. I'll post both my lists though, with an explanation on my reasons and why H2H isn't the best way to rank ATG's. Anyway, my H2H list(prime to prime, no modern supplements/training etc, take the boxers as they were): 1Vitali K/Lennox Lewis: (We needed a rematch to definitively settle this question) 2. Wlad K 3. Tyson 4. Holmes 5. Ali 6. Foreman 7. Bowe 8. Holyfield 9. Louis That's all I'm going to post, because realistically it starts picking up modern boxers that will make it sound like a troll post. When you look at all the objectively measured sports, timed sports like track, the top contenders today are blowing past the record times of 30 years ago, so I suspect I'm being biased towards old timers in my above list. I prefer an all encompassing list, though. My real top list of ATG's heavyweights includes in era record and accomplishments, and importance to boxing and history, so it includes but goes way beyond H2H which unfairly benefits modern boxers, and it goes: 1.Ali 2.Louis 3.Marciano 4.Dempsey 5. Lennox Lewis 6. Vitali Klitschko 7. JL Sullivan 8. Johnson 9. Holmes 10. Foreman 11. Tyson 12 Wlad K
