Mazikin had a close fight with Bidenko, scored a shutout victory over Fields, and scored a draw with Aurich who will soon take on Danny Williams in his 9th pro fight. Mazikin was an olympian with a vast amateur background and lots of experience at the amateurs. Mazikin fought the who is who at the amateurs. He wasnt an outstanding amateur, but he is a tough fighter who can take a punch. Solis didnt even connect with such a telling punch, and down he was. I dont know!
I agree it did seem strange, but on seeing the knockdown in slo mo he did seem to hit Mazikin on the ear although it looked more of a cuffing punch, but yeah did not seem to be a KO punch for sure. Mazikin actually beat Konstantin Airich by the way even though it was scored a draw I had Mazikin ahead, they did not want to ruin the other guys unbeaten record.
Purely based on H2H: 1. Povetkin 2. Klitschko 3. Valuev 4. Chagaev 5. Ibragimov 6. Solis 7. Chambers 8. Peter (the one who showed up against McCline and Maskaev) 9. Ruiz 10. Gomez 11. Thompson 12. Maskaev 13. Virchis 14. Brock 15. Skelton 16. Briggs Dimitrenko, Arreola, Golota, and Rahman do not belong in the top 16. Call me a nuthugger, but I believe Povetkin would beat any HW out there today, which says a lot about how weak the HW division is right now. In pretty much every other era in the past 40 years this wouldn't be true. Haye isn't included, but if I had to guess right now I'd put him under Valuev at #4.
I´ll do H2H and by achievement (taking how recent the achievements are). These are my shots/estimates at the lists: H2H 1) Wladimir Klitschko 2) Povetkin 3) Valuev 4) Chagaev 5) Peter 6) Ibragimov 7) JC Gomez (bit of a wildcard) 8) Chambers 9) Virchis 10) Ruiz 11) Dimitrenko 12) Thompson 13) Brock 14) Solis 15) Maskaev 16) Skelton Ranking on achievement: 1) Wlad 2-3) Peter - Chagaev 4) Valuev 5) Povetkin 6) Ibragimov 7) Thompson 8) Chambers 9) Virchis 10) Ruiz 11) Chambers 12) Dimitrenko .... ok I´m uninspired and out of ideas

Good list, but you forgot to throw Briggs in there, you may not like him, but he deserves a spot somewhere in the bottom half of the top 20.:good
1. Wladimir Klitschko 2. Samuel Peter 3. Ruslan Chagaev 4. Nikolai Valuev 5. Tony Thompson 6. Alexander Povetkin 7. Sultan Ibragimov 8. Alexander Dimitrenko 9. Oleg Maskaev 10. Shannon Briggs 11. Vladimir Virchis 12. Juan Carlos Gomez 13. Andrew Golota 14. Chris Arreola 15. John Ruiz 16. Hasim Rahman As for this list on fightnews it is fine. But Dimitrenko is very untested and indeed was losing early rounds against Derrick Rossy before stopping him. He will lose when he fights for World Title or against a top class contender. Rahman has yet to fight anyone of note since losing to Maskaev. We should know a bit more about Arreola after he beats Witherspoon. Golota looks still to be a decent test for any top heavyweight as he seems to at last be mentally ready, but he has slowed somewhat. Gomez has no power but decent boxing skills, hopefully he will fight more regularly otherwise any chance of winning a world title will pass. Virchis is powerful but slow and can be outboxed as Taras Bidenko proved when he was clearly beating him before being stopped in the final round. Briggs either need to lose weight and get in serious shape or retire. Maskaev has good power and decent skills but is now too slow and does not fight regularly enough, the cinderella story for him seems over and he should retire. Ibragimov can come back but needs to go back to the drawing board and bring back more offence to his style. Povetkin is very good but did not impress me against Chambers. Chambers could have won that fight by being busier but just did not look interested in mixing it up, but when he did his handspeed was clearly quicker and troubled Povetkin at times. Povetkins world title shot has come too early imo and Wlad will roll over him later this year. Tony Thompson seems to have decent skills but not alot of power he stopped Krasniqi but the German seemed to have aged overnight in that one, and Thompson also does not have alot of power. I feel the again Wlad will win comfortably after Thompson possibly winning a couple of early rounds Wlad will stop him in seven or eight. Valuev basically just has his size, he is too slow and although his jab has improved he is really just a bigger version of Primo Carnera. Although flawed Klitschko, Peter and Chagaev seem to be the three best at the moment for me. The others are decent but still have alot to prove. ========================================================== I would probably add Tua to this list as he may yet still have something to offer but has to make a move soon and really should be fighting at 225-230lbs and it will be interesting to see him square off against the winner of Arreola v Witherspoon. Chambers can probably still be a factor but needs to show more passion and willingness to fight and throw more punches. As Byrd proved you do not need to be 230lbs or more to be Heavyweight Champ. Jason Estrada is not great but has been improving and did impress me a little against Mount Whitaker, he has decent handspeed and good punch anticipation and has stepped up his level of competition recently. Travis Walker fought well to avenge his loss to TJ Wilson and may be a decent challenger for the likes of Povetkin. Odlanier Solis has looked good in some of his fights and it will be interesting to see what he does against Frans Botha. David Haye should prove to be exciting at Heavyweight with his power and questionable chin. The Heavyweight division can still provide some exciting fights to come and hopefully we will get to see some good matchups.
He told me on Myspace that he's ready to take on anyone, that his goal is to find a way to get either Peter or Wlad in the ring with him, so I dont think he's done just yet.
I thought it was a clear dive Mazikin took on that fight, totally staged. Solis does need to lose 20-25lbs before he is taken serious.
