Im gonna select the top 2 greatest fighters in each weight class & put them in a H2H match for the official crown as best ever in their division, I might leave out some weight classes or even some fighters that I havent seen enough of but I`ll try put a note of it........

HEAVYWEIGHT - Muhammad Ali vs Joe Louis.

CRUISERWEIGHT - I havent seen enough of the greats at the weight but I hear Holyfield stands alone, from what I have seen of the CWT Holy, Im not suprised.

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT - Ezzard Charles vs Gene Tunney.

SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT - Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones jr.

MIDDLEWEIGHT - Sugar Ray Robinson vs Marvin Hagler.
(No footage of Greb, not seen enough of Monzon & I rank MMH & SRR higher than b-hop)

LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT - Tommy Hearns vs Mike McCallum.

WELTERWEIGHT - Sugar Ray Robinson vs Sugar Ray Leonard.

LIGHT-WELTERWEIGHT - Aaron Pryor vs Julio cesar Chavez.

LIGHTWEIGHT - Roberto Duran vs Pernell Whitaker.

SUPER-FEATHERWEIGHT - Alexis Arguello vs Floyd Mayweather.
(JC Chavez ranks right alongside these 2 but he has his hands full with Pryor at 140 so FMJ & AA it is)

FEATHERWEIGHT - Willie Pep vs Salvador Sanchez.
(Similar as above, Saddler ranks beside Pep & SS & we have already had Saddler/Pep so here is Pep & SS)

SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT - Wilfredo Gomez vs Erik Morales.

I will no doubt take some **** for it on this forum, but I think peak Lennox Lewis would beat Joe Louis. Possibly peak Tyson could as well.

I think Bob Foster or Michael Spinks or even Archie Moore would be a better choice at lhw - how much Tunney have you actually seen to be able to say definitively that he would beat any of these three?

I'd have Robinson-Monzon instead of Robinson-Hagler at mw, but that's just a personal preference, Robinson-Hagler would be a fantastic fight and is a good choice.

I think Pernell Whitaker would beat both Pryor and Chavez at 140, but I understand you wouldn't want to have him in there if you have him at 135 too.

Are you planning to add lower-weight picks Bill?

    A lot of good picks.

I think Robinson-Hagler is especially interesting. The irresistable force against the unmoveable object.

I'd give Hagler a good chance here. He wouldn't be KO'd and the question is if Robinson could frustrate him and outbox him like Leonard did. It would extra hard over 15 rds.

Of course, Robinson has the power and the chin to try to go toe to toe, but would this really work? I wouldn't be surprised if Hagler takes this one.

SRR never fought at lmw, that division didn't exist then. If you put him in at lmw, then you must surely put Duran in at lww. Also, it's a strange decision to have PBF in at lww rather than at sfw. IMO you should switch him and Chavez.

122 lbs is as far as my current knowledge goes in any kind of depth but anyone else can feel free to add their bit.

As far as the Gene Tunney thing goes, I havent seen a lot of most of the great LHWTs but the division has produced some wonderfull fighters down the yrs & I just could not leave it out in the way I left out the CWT division. Tunney & Charles even beat ATG HWT champions in Dempsey & Louis albeit past their peaks (I know Spinks did likewise with Holmes but not as convincingly) & their records are outstanding, I truly feel that Charles & Tunney are LIKELY to be the top 2 guys at 175.

I honestly thought of this exact fight but decided against it because there was no such thing as a CWT division when Rocky fought.

Ps. I think Marciano takes Holyfield... wonderful fight tho.

I was sure Duran never fought at it though?? I could be wrong though, that was my impression. He def never fought for a world title there.

HEAVYWEIGHT - Muhammad Ali vs Joe Louis.-
    This content is protected

CRUISERWEIGHT - Evander Holyfield vs Rocky Marciano - Marciano imo, not too happy that a guy who never officially fought at the weight is getting picked over that division's greatest, the way i see it though.

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT - Ezzard Charles vs Gene Tunney.- Charles ultimately imo, ut one of the hardest to pick.

SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT - Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones jr.- I'll pick Jones in his prime for the sake of not arguing, and i probably would pick him anyhow, but by no means the easy pick mis-match its passed off as.

MIDDLEWEIGHT - Carlos Monzon vs Marvin Hagler.- I find it so hard to pick the elite MWs against each other, as i believe THEY impose their own wills and do what they do best regardless. But i will pick Monzon on a whim.

LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT - Tommy Hearns vs Sugar Ray Robinson- Robinson stops this man, i feel strongly about this one, some who know me here know i always have.

WELTERWEIGHT - Barney Ross vs Sugar Ray Leonard.- Leonard

LIGHT-WELTERWEIGHT - Aaron Pryor vs Floyd Mayweather- Floyd but this is not the simple thing people may think, a man goes right at Floyd and gets picked apart. In actuality I may think Pryor, in fact, Pryor on hisbest night i'll take.

LIGHTWEIGHT - Roberto Duran vs Henry Armstrong- Duran

SUPER-FEATHERWEIGHT - Alexis Arguello vs Julio Cesar Chavez.- oh what a fight, this young Chavez was a hungry species of a being, and Arguello was monstrous at this weight. I'll pick Arguello as i think this was his very best, i dont mind one bit people takin Julio though

FEATHERWEIGHT - Willie Pep vs Salvador Sanchez.- Pep imo, either man though

SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT - Wilfredo Gomez vs Eder Jofre -the easy thing to do is to pick Gomez as this is his weight, but in actuality i think i'll take Jofre, maybe im wrong?

Not officially but I guarantee that he was at that weight when he stepped into the ring many times.
