Ali had respectable power but yeah don't know if you could call him a power hitter and on top of that his style meant he didn't sit on his punches a lot of the time.

 

Liston literally fell on his face while trying to rise and rolled around on the canvas before eventually making it up.

 

He was taking advantage of the time that was given by Ali's antics, he seemed fine after he actually got up.

 

You know full well how ridiculous that sounds.

 

Why do you think so many people accuse Liston of throwing the match? The punch hurt him badly but his reaction was utterly over the top.

The size of their opponents are similar but IMO Lewis beat better fighters on average

 

The were. Byrd started out at LHW. Peter was 6'2" or so. Sultan 6'1. Chag billed at 6'0" but looked to me more like 5'10. Haye a cruiser.

Yes, they were. The physcially imposing ones that could punch adn will go down as important oppoents.

I have challenged everyone to give me the names. Where is Wlad's equivalent of Vitali? Ruddock? Mason? Bruno? Grant? Golota? Briggs? Hard-punching, physically robust guys 6'3 or over?

Wlad's notable opponents are Byrd, Haye, Chag, Sultan, Povetkin...maybe Peter. He has significant size advantage over all of them.

The pig guys he fought..Pulev, Thompson, Austin...were light punching, undistinguished guys.

And we can keep naming the names all night. No problem here.

 

Pulev might beat Ruddock.
Peter (2) probably beats Mason.
Thompson might beat Bruno and Golota.
Peter (1) probably beats Grant.
Briggs might gas out against Austin, Wach, Wolfgramm or anyone.

But this isn't a resume comparison, it's a h2h comparison.

 

You keep pretending what I am saying is hard, and its not.

He needs a physical advance to where he can bully. Pulev is a light puncher. Peter is small. There are not big, physically robust punchers on his resume.

Also, you may think that Pulev might beast Ruddock, but boxing history looks much more fondly at Ruddock than Pulev. etc.

 

Peter is anything but small. Pulev isn’t a light puncher.

Pulev never won the popularity contest. Has nothing to do with his level compared to other B listers.

He's 6'2. Wlad has a substantial height and reach advantage.

 

The fact is that he fought opponents (on average) taller than Lewis at the title level. It's not like there are a lot of 6'6 boxers out there. He was robbed of a revenge fight against Fury which I would have put my money on for him to win. Ditto with AJ if he would have taken a tune-up.

 

Wlad's average opponent weight was 235.13 lbs Lewis's was 226.95 lbs. Wlad was outweighed in 26 of his 62 fights Lewis was outweighed in only 10 of his 44 fights. When he was outweighed, Wlad gave up an average of 14.20 lbs Lewis gave up 5.88 lbs. So yes Wlad fought larger opponents on average.
