While I have generaly gone with the criticisms of Tunneys heavyweight resume, I wonder if too much of a reaction has set in against it now. I particularly think that people regard his key heavyweight wins as being more de valued than they really are.

Dempsey still had enough left to beat Jack Sharkey, who was obviously the best heavyweight outside of Tunney and Dempsey himself.

Gibbons was still the #2 heavyweight contender and coming off some decent wins.

Heeney won an elimination tournament to get his title shot.

Even Harry Greb would have mopped up most of the top heavyweights of the day.

Rankings can always be argued, but this is for certain - that's a beautiful video. I adore well-done highlight reels like that, showing each guy off to their best.

At the end of the day it's pretty much semantics, a top ten a fairly arbitrary amount when you're talking about truly exceptional fighters. The guy at #11 is not suddenly poor or deficient for being outside the magical ten.

All of them here are simply phenonemal, special boxers. And a special video reel.

    Here's an interesting stat:

As far as our top 20 competition, Ali and Marciano are in a league of their own.

    Ali 7-1, Marciano 5-0

    Other strong records:

    Holyfield 4-1-1, Louis 3-2, Tunney 2-0, Johnson 2-0, Lewis 2-0-1, Foreman 2-2, Liston 2-2....

I have Louis,Ali and Marciano in the top tier I put Foreman,Frazier,Walcott,Dempsey,Lewis and Holmes in the 2nd tier and Charles,Schmeling,Liston,Baer,Johnson and Jeffries in the 3rd tier...I guess it is a matter of opinion but Louis,Marciano and Ali stand out...Louis and Ali had the deeper resume but Marciano had the most potent and compacted career

The problem is, by numerically comparing them, you ignore the H2H quality of the "top 20 opposition" when they fought them.

For example, it would be better to do a list for each, with descriptive terms such as: "Peak", "Somewhat Past-Prime", "Shot", "Old" etc.

    Isn't on the Youtube page?

Not sure, but think he listed them there. Double-click on the embedded player on page 1 of this thread for the shortcut there.
