I disagree, but if thats your opinion fair do's.

Just checking you didnt think he shouldnt be in a top 200 but Joppy,Pavlik and Dawson(to name 3) should be.

Top 50 if his performance against Joe Calzaghe is anything to go by.

Explain to me how Jack Johnson can possibly be above Ali? Just explain. Dont care about some old farts opinion on it caught up in nostalgia, just explain how can he possibly be above Ali?

Great job at trying...that would have been a ***** to do and I can safely say I would probably never bother but like you said it starts getting hard (near impossible) when you get into the 100-200 range.

Of course their are a lot of glaring holes, especially in that range that couldnt really be justified by just opinion..A lot of picks just dont make sense at all to tell you the truth.

Johnson went from 1901 to 1926 {if Boxrec is to be believed} losing only 3 fights, including 1 disqualification, he beat Jeffries,Fitzsimmons,Ketchel,Burns and Jeannette amongst others.
Ali on the other hand, his corner cheated Henry Cooper, i was sure he lost the 3rd fight against Ken Norton {Norton would have had a winning record against him} Harry Carpenter threatened to quit commentating after that bout, these 2 events i would have thought you would be familiar with having UK as your location, unless you are too young.
You tell me why Ali should be ranked above Johnson ?

TRAMPIE (who will now forevermore be known as Joppy ),

JOPPY, how many more times are you going to think of things and reply to the same posts I made ages ago?? Hassling me is not going to improve the reception your dire attempt at a list got. You have received a big ESB THUMBS DOWN, so you should accept that and either rewrite the list or take it on the chin.

    - You did not tell me about JACK JOHNSON when I was writing my inital 50, I had written JACK DEMPSEY in which was a mistake because I finished the list at 4am and was ****ing exhausted. If you had bothered to read the full 100 when it was done, Johnson was in the 50s and Dempsey was around 97th, so it's obvious that it was a typo.

    - You did not tell me about FIGHTING HARADA, that was an omission which I believed was correct at the time, which was pointed out by many people, and which I subsequently revised and had him moved up a little in the full 100 because I believe I initially underrated him slightly. It was actually reading some of Sweet Pe'a writings on Harada which inspired me to research him a little more, absolutely zero to do with an anonymous poster such as yourself, no offence but you're hardly ever on here.

    - JAMES J JEFFERIES is not a hole in my knowledge as George Dixon is, I simply do not believe he is one of the top 100 OAT, same with Jack, Montgomery, Mosley, and others.

    - You can keep telling me other peoples' opinions of JACK JOHNSON and JACK DEMPSEY all day long, but having Johnson borderline top 10 and Dempsey top 30 merely underlines the fact that your knowledge is severely flawed (there are many respected posters who agree with me re these two overrated hw's, I'm sure McGrain is one of them).

OK, now, I have 12 QUESTIONS for you about your own list, and I hope you will be man enough to answer them since you have started a little campaign against me on this thread:

1.WHAT WAS THE REASONING BEHIND WILLIAM JOPPY AT 143? Sorry, I just have to -

As soon as I remarked on it you said it was a mistake, but you must have reasoned out in your head why he was SO HIGH on your list, above...

    ERIK MORALES!!!!!
    AZUMAH NELSON!!!!!
    JIMMY BIVINS!!!!!
    GENE FULLMER!!!!!

What is your explanation for how high you had him??

2.WHAT IS YOUR REASONING FOR HAVING JACK JOHNSON HIGHER THAN EZZARD CHARLES,MUHAMMAD ALI, MICKEY WALKER, AND MANY OTHERS? WHY IS JOHNSON SO HIGH? WHY IS HE A BETTER HW THAN ALI AND A BETTER FIGHTER P4P THAN CHARLES??

3.PLEASE EXPLAIN EDER JOFRE BEING HIGHER THAN ARCHIE MOORE.

4.PLEASE EXPLAIN EDER JOFRE BEING HIGHER THAN MICKEY WALKER.

5.PLEASE EXPLAIN ROCKY MARCIANO BEING HIGHER THAN MONZON, CANZONERI, SADDLER & WHITAKER?

6.WHY IS JACK DEMPSEY RANKED HIGHER THAN BARNEY ROSS?

7.WHY IS LARRY HOLMES RANKED HIGHER THAN EMILE GRIFFITH?

8.HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY JOE CALZAGHE BEING HIGHER THAN:
Olivares, M Spinks, Wills, Pacquiao, Hopkins, Harada, Gomez, Foster, C.Ortiz, Tiger, Conn, Perez, Canto, McGovern, Kid Lewis, Basilio.......

9.HOLMAN WILLIAMS AT 91 and LUIS M RODRIGUEZ AT 95 ARE JUST WRONG!
I think there has been some cut n paste action going on here, I do not believe that someone who knows so much about so many old boxers genuinely believes that Williams and Rodriguez deserve to be in the 90s while J.Johnson is 10, Ketchel is 21, Dempsey is 30, Larry Holmes is 34 and Joe Calzaghe is 46!!

    10.RICKY HATTON IS AT 101st...
...ahead of Nonpareil Jack Dempsey, Duilio Loi, Carpentier, LaMotta, Frazier, Benvenuti. I had missed that one first around - it's another JOPPY by Trampie!!

Ricky Hatton is actually FORTY-FOUR places above Erik Morales. Any reason for this?

11.KELLY PAVLIK and CHAD DAWSON ARE RANKED HIGHER THAN HAROLD JOHNSON, ERIK MORALES, AZUMAH NELSON, JIMMY BIVINS...

Please, go and look at Jimmy Bivins's resume, and then tell me he should be behind Kelly Pavlik. :-(

12.YOU HAVE NO DON CURRY AND NO WINKY WRIGHT IN YOUR TOP 200, BUT YOU HAVE CHRIS JOHN AND SVEN OTTKE. CAN THESE THINGS EVEN BE EXPLAINED??

In my first post on this thread, I said well done for taking the time and effort to make a top 200, I registered that I didn't rate your list as did most people, but I made no attempt to pick it apart. You proceeded to have a go at me. Well Joppy my old son, you forced my hand. Your list was DIRE.
