There is obviously a lot of emphasis on the classic forum of the top 10 ATG heavyweight list, but no one seems to ever look at the 10-15 15-20 and 20-25 region (Apart from a few like philyfan and lufcrazy do there's up to 20) I've worked quite hard to get my list right recently and making sure I'm not just listing names the lower I get. Take a look and let me know whatcha think. Re: Top 15 Heavyweights ever? 1 Louis 2 Ali 3 Marciano 4 Foreman 5 Holmes 6 Lewis 7 Johnson 8 Frazier 9 Holyfield 10 Tyson 11 Jeffries 12 Wlad (assuming he doesn't lose till retirement) 13 Liston 14 Dempsey 15 Schmelling 16 Charles 17 Patterson 18 Walcott 19 Wills 20 Bowe 21 Vitali 22 Langford 23 Tunney 24 Sullivan 25 Norton I'll admit I'm not too well educated on Sullivan or Wills yet, but I'm learning.
Too high; Foreman, Johnson, Tyson, Jeffries, Outrageously too high: Wlad (he is barely top 25th ssuming he doesn't lose till retirement) Too low: Langford, Sullivan, Norton Missing: where is Max Baer??? Doesn't belong: Vitali (he barely belongs to the top 250th !!!!!) :-(
Oh Seamus, I'm pretty sure I remember you arguing against Jeffries being too low in a list a month or so back? He reigned supreme and dominated a very competitive era of boxing. Sure he may have outweighed his opposition, however he was fighting people that where at their best when weighing in at 160-180. If he fought a Fitzsimmons who weighed 200, everyone would be complaining that it's the heaviest he's ever been.
1 thru 25 is hard to do since it gets iffy / hazy after # 15..... Ali Holmes Johnson Louis Lewis Foreman V.K. Holy Tyson Liston Wlad Klit Frazier Marciano Dempsey Bowe Charles Jeffries Tim Spoon Norton Baer Schmeling Dokes Tunney Patterson Valuev :deal MR.BILL:hat:good:yep
Marciano at # 3 only holds water between 1887 to 1960.... Here in 2012, Marciano is lucky to be top-10.... V.K. would eat his ass alive.... MR.BILL
Mr Bill putting VK 7th in the list tells me all I need to know... so I can save me reading 17k+ posts
1. Louis 2. Ali 3. Johnson 4. Marciano 5. Dempsey 6. Foreman 7. Jeffries 8. Sullivan 9. Holmes 10. Frazier 11. Tyson 12. Lewis 13. Wills 14. Charles 15. Langford 16. Liston 17. Patterson I don't know the order. It varies every time I try to settle it. Especially beyond 10. The other ten guys would be drawn from: Jersey Joe Walcott Max Schmeling Tommy Burns Ken Norton Max Baer Evander Holyfield Riddick Bowe Wladimir Klitschko Vitali Klitschko Gene Tunney Primo Carnera Sam McVea Joe Jeannette If you include Sullivan on an ATG HW list, he can't be lower than 10th without you seriously contradicting yourself on a **** ton of levels (even though the nature of any ATG list in boxing will reveal mass contradictions). Same with Jeffries, he is def a top 10 guy.
I really could give a flying **** about who's popular or who was popular back in the day. I only judge fighters based on who I feel can kick the hardest ass.. Resume's are nice, but I also judge by how big and solid many of the opponents were on a champions file, as well..... :bbb Louis gets dinged a lot for fighting the "Bum of the Month" dude's of the 1940's... Marciano fought and KO'd a buncha' old farts past their primes... Holmes defended against Evangelista, Ocasio, Scotty Frank and Marvis Frazier... Holy defended against 40+ Foreman and Holmes, as well as Coke fiend Bert Cooper... The cycle goes on and on... I have NO PROBLEM ranking the K-Bros. as highly as I do... No problem at all..... SR.BILLARDO:think:rasta
**** you, you limey cocksucker from down under..... To me you are nothing but kangaroo ****.... Punk-ass *****.... I give a **** about your opinions..... MR.BILL:hat
