HOLMES,no one else is even close. Hearns/Quartey (tied) then pure speed Ali... How I rate jabs, based on speed, snap and some pope in it as well. Holmes and Hearns used it both offensively and defensively, they also shot it downstairs and upstairs with precision. When I see people try to compare Lewis and Vlad,s, paw of a jab void of snap Other greats,SRL,SRL,Argello, Orlando Canizales, Pep,Liston to name a few...
Holmes, hearns and Quartey for range and sheer power. Ken Buchanan might not have had that power or long range but my god that jab was like a piston and he could throw it at any angle/range and had great variety with it. I cant think of a boxer who threw a jab with such persistency. He just lacked that power for it to be a top 3 ATG jab. Duran just walked right through it like an animal and didn't give a **** if it landed.
Duran would have walked through a Hearns, Holmes or Quartey jab too if they had the same average punching power on their other shots that Buchanan had.
True but its Duran were talking about so Ken's power wasn't that poor. Buchanan had excellent IQ/movement, outstanding boxer skills and was as tough as nails. Its Just a pity he never had elite power.
it wasn't poor, just average. I think that was a much bigger problem in keeping Duran at bay than his jab not having enough sting on it.
IF Salvador Sanchez, Alexis Arguello, and Pinklon Thomas are in contention for the list, I'm adding Greg Page, Tony Tubbs, Ray Leonard, and Donald Curry.
Depends. Speed, length, power, and accuracy need to be factored in. Holmes, Wlad, and Ali for the heavies. Lower weights. Leonard, Hearns, and Loughran.
Your god damn right there mate Imagine ken with Hearns power or even Durans or SRL'S Now that would be damn scary.
