I always enjoyed the corley fight, he brawled and boxed. He did a bit of everything , including getting staggered early, but fought back well and dominated. I like the chavez fight a lot too. The obvious answer is Corrales though. He looked perfect in that fight
I always liked the Chavez fight too. People say he looked bad, but Chavez was really good and relentless.
Yeah, Chavez was a bit underrated, imo...And he came to play that evening. But Mayweather tore him apart with uppercuts and forced a stoppage of an ultra-tough hombre.
Interesting, Mayweather beat DLH at 154 no catch weight like Pacquiao did, Beat Pacquiao who a couple of months beat undefeated Thurman and those fights were not under "140"
the truth is that a lot, and I mean A FREAKING LOT of boxers are complete garbage from a moral point of view. Starting with SRR, well known for beating his kids and woman. It's not a popular opinion, but I'm 100% sure you cant be a good fighter if you dont enjoy inflicting pain to others. That's MY opinion, though, and noone else's. I can say if any boy can be a good amateur by the way he behaves. I told it to a guy not long ago, stop boxing, you are not made for this, you are way too nice to box. You will achieve nothing. After being betrayed by his trainer and receiving a good amount of beatings he left boxing. People will say "this, or this guy was a nice person and he was a hell of fighter". I honestly think that this or this guy enjoys inflicting pain, but he hides it very well. No way I will change my mind about that, I've seen that too many times. Actually this comment belongs to another thread, sorry, I guess I'm doing offtopic. My favourite performances are: - corrales: a MUST, if boxing perfection exists, that's it. - hernández: everybody forgets that a 21 yo boy beat an atg in that weight in hernández. Hernández was the unbeaten champion for I dont even remember the number of years (his only defeat was in another weight and dragged by de la hoya, we all need money, dude). Impressive performance by such a young guy. - probably pacquiao: Not very eye catching boxing wise, but it wipes out the doubt about who would win. That's really important, more than it could seem at first sight.

The HBO commentary was giving Chavez too much credit for being aggressive and active, despite taking the big share of the clean punches instead of landing it. Harold Lederman often favored aggressors even when they weren’t landing the better shots, I think he had this fight even after 8. Maybe they had different expectations because of other Floyd fights, especially the Chico one, they expected Floyd to be on his bike and getting more or less untouched. Chavez did a good job in this fight all things considered, fighting against one of the best ever at this weight class. He was landing shots to the body and some head shots, but was getting picked apart with uppercuts and quietly taking a beating.
