    LMFAO :rofl

The thread says 'Overrated'..... not 'Underrated'!

I say this because Calzaghes skills and talent arent in question, yet he will always be underrated because he never fought ALL the best fighters at the time. He never broadened his horizons and stepped up to LHW earlier. Fair enough he unified the SMW division and ended Jeff Laceys career early, heck he also beat a prime Kessler, but there where a lot bigger fights he could have taken. I would loved to have seen him take down Pavlik and Dawson before he retired! He could have been one of the greatest, he had the talent for it, but down to him and Frank Warren he will always be Underrated!!!

actually i think you're both wrong.

calzaghe was clearly a top class fighter, but he was also a fighter who never sought to find out how good he was, like you said.

someone like that can never have the tag 'underrated' because he chose his own path.

To be honest Sir I am not. I am obsessed with how overrated he is from day one. You can see I like fighters of all kinds. I call it how I see it. Put yourself outside of being a fan. All the talk that he is the greatest thing ever to happen to boxing and yet his wins are vs. nobody dangerous in their prime.
I watched live when he fought Castillo the first time. he clearly lost.

it is not anything hating as did many people including compubox, harold ledderman and a majority of boxing writers.

Right there I noticed he was not able to stop the pressure and power shots landed by Castillo. His defense is overrated vs speedy, power punches who give him even slight angles. He has no answer at time and throws few punches. He escapes with his legs and if not for his age advantage over Mosley, ODLH that would have been negated. He has kept even decent fighters in their with him and even been put on the canvas by weak puncher and old fighters.

he has no convincing win over a top welterweight in their prime or near it.
I would have liked to see him fight Mosley when he was younger or not out of the ring for his longest duration. Many ppl were impressed with him that fight but I don't get how such a great defensive fighter could be in that much trouble to a guy that looked shot from the start of the fight.

Something is not right with him as a pro vs the best and the ducking thing is odd to say the least.

    Kelly Pavlik.

I wouldn't say Nonito is overrated but right now he clearly doesn't deserve to be in P4P top 10. He's ****ing inactive. :patsch

you have so many posts bashing him thats its clear what your motive is. every great fighter has holes. including mayweather to me these guys (boxers) do an amazing job in there but i just dont see the need to bash them. to each his own though

Lacy - No explanation needed. He got Lacy'ied by Joe Calzaghe.
Michaelzczki or whatever the **** his name is - Completely overrated, lost to ****ing Julio Gonzalez
Judah - Before he got stopped by Kostya, he was 'better than money'. Yeah right.

    1. Mosely
    2. Wright
    3. De La Hoya

These three have not been relevant for the past ten years yet they were given big opportunities that just didn't match up to their faded skills or accomplishments at the time.

    Mosely, top ten p4p today?
    Wright, an ATG?
De La Hoya, two chances at the top p4p?
