1. Fighters who are only getting shots because of their promoter while better fights dont happen. 2. Fights that dont happen because of the risk/reward factor. 3. Fighters who dont give a **** about the sport. Could go on but everyones mentioned alphabet belts, no real champs, etc.
I was going to put in Arum before I even saw yours. 1. Arum. He is too opinionated and puts himself over boxing and he does not give us good cards. 2. organizations like the WBU and IBO 3. fighters like Mayweather who hand pick opponents and then say they are great. What I like about boxing 1. fighters like Hagler and Hearns who come to fight. 2. Good matchups when they finally happen like Pacman/Hatton. 3. ESPN for having Friday night fights.
I had this same discussion with a freind the other day ! I'm sick of seeing golf everywhere and calling the liks of tiger woods athlete of the year and fighters like manny pac or bernard hopkins who are living legends get a small 30 second piece on espn .I also dislike shitty ppv's as well .
1. promoters like gary shaw and bob arum turning down great fights (such as gary shaw not allowing vic darch to fight nonito donaire, bob arum basically telling cotto michael jennings or no fight what so ever) 2. hbo turning down great fights because they're not "marketable" 3. fighters getting money hungry. (bernard hopkins vs tomasz adamek)
Also promoters !! They are the ones that prevent the best match ups !! The public has demanded for williams margarito 2 do u think we could of had that with out the promoters ? I say hell yeah but thanks to the likes. Of arum king and even gbp they prvent these type of rematches to happen at least when the fighters are still young.
1. ppv prices, when could we see a live fight with two big names on nbc, fox, or any other channel, just for example imagine the upcoming fights for manny vs hatton or even clottey vs cotto on live t.v for free... come on as fans we deserve a treat at least once a year... 2. fighters not fighting guys in their own weight division... it seems boxing has gotten to a point were the big names are just helping each other and not letting the younger prospects become bigger names and grow and give them opportunities... thats why we are seeing so many names jump around weight divisions... 3. When those supposedly boxing fans say boxing isnt the same anymore, they must be crazy and really dont know anything... and please someone tell the media that boxing has more than the heavyweight division, just because the two brothers are dominating and have class, dont discredit anyones success... stepping in the ring takes a lot of courage it self...
1) Too many fights stopped way too early 2) Overly passionate fans 3) Joe Cortez (primary contributor to #1)
1 - The ABC belts - This is the biggest problem with boxing, bar none. 2 - Politics - Although this could be solve in some way by their only being one champion per division. 3 - PPV - Too many fights are PPV, and thus a lot of people miss out on fights and then lose interest in boxing, which in turn reduces boxing's media coverage
Oh and Vegas, too many fights happen there in 20,000 areans when the fight could actually be held elsewhere in a stadium with 80,000+.
