my man Johnson belongs at the top. Leonard isnt close to #12. Pac as much as I like him just isnt that good. Hagler & Jones belong in the top ten (at least) and I can see Gene Tunney got the shaft again

They are probably the two best fighters I've ever seen and Johnson is the miracle man for the way he won the title years decades before any other black man. Remember that Louis had connections and everyone pulling for him. Johnson had no such help

    where the hell is Jeffries?

you lost me here. hagler in the top ten (at least)? i love jones and i barely can justify a spot for him. but hagler just can't be above or on par with pep, charles, langford and company for me.

johnson is great and top 10 heavy yeah, but pound for pound? his **** title reign took out that possibility for me

That's the main reason why it is criminal to rank moore ahead of charles in ATG rankings. Overall Ability plays a crucial criteria.

i meant Hagler fits in the top 10 so easily his name should automatically be on the lips of any knowledgable fan. and that is just based upon PROWESS ALONE! Same with Roy Jones who would mop the floor with anyone put in front of him

And Moore, the all time KO king? He put all those little dweebs in front of him! The guy that went toe to toe with Rocky Marciano!

also noticably missing is the other gr8 lightheavy Bob Foster who knocked men senseless. you could almost picture the opponent with his head in a permanently fixed position from Foster's hook

If Foster v Hopkins could have taken place, Bob with his 6-4 frame and all his weaponry, there is no way that fight would be compeitive. A win over Foster would be completely out of reach

overall ability plays a crucial factor but accomplishment and body of work is the determining factor

I don't rank him as a top 10 @ HW , but p4p one must understand the greatness of such a small man competing against much bigger and stronger opponents which also knew how to fight (unlike Primo Carnerra etc) therefore despite him never being a fearsome hw , in p4p sense he is a borderline top 10.
Same for Orlin Norris whom i rank even lower @ hw , but p4p just look at his opponents list , the outcomes and the size differentials . this is the essence of p4p . There are justifications for not putting them in top 10 p4p , but i gave the reasons to why yes.
And did you post a better alternative to mine ? because if you don't have , or have a worse "alternative" then just STFU

Anyone want to stop and think what a prime Roy Jones, Jr., the one who beat the 4 year older Hopkins and Toney, what that man would have done to Pascal?

maybe not ahead of Leonard really , i won't argue against you in this one , but at least he was not KOd twice (or once) as a young man against not that good opponents.
But I can agree with your argument about Pacquiao too.

Never understand the slack Hopkins gets for doing absolutely nothing in the first six rounds of BOTH Taylor fights, he is clearly a brilliant fighter technically but that was a major strategic error TWICE against a fighter he numerous levels above in terms of skill.

    Top 10

    1. Robinson
    2. Muhammad Ali
    3. Henry Armstrong
    4. Joe Louis
    5. Willie Pep
    6. Carlos Monzon
    7. Benny Leonard
    8. Alexis Arguello
    9. Marvin Hagler
    10. Sugar Ray Leonard

Hopkins is justifiable top 35, I'd put Jones Jr around there somewhere as well. At MW, Hopkins and Jones make my top 10.

As for fanasty match ups, what about Hagler vs Hopkins or Monzon vs Jones Jr

He didn´t throw much, that´s true. But that doesn´t mean that he did nothing. Taylor threw much but didn´t land much either, not more than Hopkins in many of those rounds I think. That makes many of those rounds quite close. So, it´s Taylor´s agressiveness vs. Hopkins´ defence. Depends on what you like.

As dominant as he's been, the only top 30 all time lists B-Hop will see is 160 and 175 divisionals.
