I'd definitely have Vic/Mijares up there. Even though Mijares is in a lull right now, he was the business at the time and Vic fought such a great fight. He showed skill he hadn't showed before and was a real display of talent.

Katsidis - Casamayor is also a great performance. Coming back the way he did, ad******g etc. He showed one little bit of foolishness in the tenth and it cost him big time.

Also I think Tszyu - Mitchell II, given the circumstances surrounding the fight (layoff, injury, return to ring etc) that or his flawless performance against Ben Tackie.

Yeah, 'Bones' vs Reid is a good get Liechardt.

It is hard fitting Australian boxing history into only 40 slots though.

    Good list Liechardt.

A little surprised you rated Sands win over Villemain higher than his win over Olson.

Granted Villemain had some good wins, including a win and a loss against LaMotta, and fought Sugar Ray Robinson twice - but he lost by UD and stoppage to Ray.

Olson also beat Villemain by SD in Villemain's final bout.

Not saying you are wrong by the way. There's no right or wrong in these things.

    ...also what about....nah forget it....yeah...nah....nah..yeah...um...nah...ok I'll have a stab.....what about MMMuunnn....ok then...Mundine/Ottke?
...all jokes aside it was a pretty good effort for a guy with only 10 fights...ok..I get the hint...yes it's late..I'm outta here!

Ricky did well to go the distance with Calzaghe, but never seriously threatened him.

Mundine's effort against Ottke, particularly for an inexperienced fighter, was very creditable. But it was certainly spoilt when he was KO'ed by a guy that just couldn't normally stop his opponents.

I'd also rate Danny Greens performance against Lucas much higher than his win over Jones at the stage of Jones' career that that happened.

He fought a great fight that night and really out boxed Lucas leading to a good stoppage... if I remember, Green was very much relying on power and size up til then and really showed some pedigree in the ring that night.

Villemain fight was sandwiched between the frenchmens 2 fights with La Motta. 1st fight was controversial win for Jake, the return a convincing pts win for Villemain. La Motta was world champ in rematch, non title. Villemain soon after beat Kid Gavilan. Sands also ko'd Henry Brimm twice who drew once with SRR during Rays title days. Bombers win over Campbell is just out side, could or probably should even be ahead of Green-Jones.
