Off the top of my head: 1. Gerrie Coetzee 2. Corrie Sanders 3. Ike Ibeabuchi 4. Sam Peter 5. Pierre Coetzer
I'd forgotten about Pierre Coetzer. He wasn't the greatest of heavyweights, but he had a very good chin: he took the bombs of George Foreman and Frank Bruno very well before being stopped on cuts/mercy.
1. Gerrie Coetzee 2. Corey Sanders 3. Ike Ibeabuchi 4. Herbie Hide 5. Pierre Coetzee Honorable Mentions Henry Akinwande Samuel Peter David Izon Duncan Dokawari A win over Maskaev puts Peter at number 4
ahh cheers for this thread m8 makes a change from the other threads out there hmm Coetzee first won the national lightweight title as a 13-year-old! and had a 192 ameture fights so he is gotta be 1 of the best and corrie sanders was 1 of the best Piet Crous was also a great african boxer So now tht we really sorted out this thread how bout Top 10 Best romanian welter weights during mid 80s jus kidding
1-Gerrie Coetzee -- Very durable fought until he was 42-43, and had the right hand to knock out a elephant, he would have been a live underdog against Holmes... Corrie Sanders was a Poor Mans Coetzee, very powerful early round fighter, but his stamina was horrible, could fight only 4 or 5 rounds and he was outta gas.. Frans Botha was a tough as nails 90's fighter, chubby but effective..
1. Corrie Sanders (beat the possible future ATG Wlad Klitschko inside 2) 2. Ike Ibeabuchi (great talent, but mad) 3. Herbie Hide (Great skills, but unfortunately horrible chin) 4. Gerrie Cotzee 5. Henry Akinwande
