Darcy is uncontestable top 2...... Griffo is also uncontestable there, his record is just too amazing not to be. Peter Jackson I feel is a big maybe, maybe he was better than John L Sullivan but thanks to Sullivan refusing to fight him we just don't know, I have him there more on reputation than anything but what I do know is, he was one of the greats of his day. Fenech was a very good champion, he had so much heart and fight in him he just overwhelmed his opponents but his constant wars wore him down and by the second Azumah fight Jeffrey was a shadow of himself. Tszyu was a fantastic fighter most of us acknowledge that and Famechon was a brilliant boxer and quite formidable, I rate him a bit a bove Rose. Carruthers was unlucky not to be in my top 5, Jimmy was FAST, oh man was he fast, maybe the fastest Bantamweight to ever live, he just suffers from not having great opponents to beat. Dave Sands was very formidable he had so many tools and he could really box or bang so he could dictate fights, I hear that SRR was highly wary and impressed by Sands, Dave died too young.
Five seriously good and worthy mentions and the Hennebury / Richards feud was one of the great feuds in boxing those two respected but hated each other. Ambrose Palmer was very talented but way too small for longevity but he is famous for being one of the great trainers. Sands was very formidable, the greatest of Australian boxers not to win a title except maybe for Peter Jackson. Les Darcy did win a world title despite what some may say.
I wouldn't be surprised if he boxed a kangaroo or two in his time but I know Galento definitely wrestled an octopus. He killed it. Carnera boxed a kangaroo for sure.
