As a matter of fact, I'm on a Giardello kick right now, haveing watched a few rounds of his defense against Rubin Carter..and I plan on seeing the rest today, and then viewing his title winning fight vs Tiger..Joey was a bonafide old school wizard..a master boxer if there ever was one.

I may have a better choice than Leonard, but as of now I cannot think a fighter who out-countered Benitez, Duran II, Hagler, and Hearns. He did outpunch some of those fighters, but he did by countering them.

 

I love watching Joey G strut his stuff. The title winning effort by Joey is my favourite Middleweight fight of all time.

 

Yeah, what started it yesterday for me was watching Carter-Fernandez...virtually destroying Fernandez with as little effort as I've ever seen, and then blowing out poor Emile Griffith (but that same result vs Griff wouldn't have happened again in a million years)...then I watched that foxy, wily old pro Giardello work his magic on Carter...the nerve of that damned movie that they made...making Carter the winner...it was Joey's second masterpiece in a row..

 

I'd say you're setting the bar pretty low for a masterpiece if you are putting Giardello Carter in as one.Good past prime performance though it was.

 

I have never seen it. But Ring scored it for Carter.
