    I agree.

Guys like Patterson often fought at 180lbs but are included.

Jones, for most of his lightheavyweight bouts weighed around 180lbs come fight time and showed great handspeed. In his fight at heavyweight, around 200lbs, he still possesed hellish handspeed. Why doesn't that count? Why should it matter if Ruiz wasn't an all time great? He was a good contender, which is more than you can say of 0-0-0 Rademacher.

A lot of hatred for Jones.

He was a heavyweight at the time. Only over the last couple of years has the cruiserweight limit been upped to 200lbs. If he was a cruiserweight at the time he would not have fought as a heavyweight. If thats your criteria then Patterson can't be included either.

Personally I have no hatred for Jones, just didnt think he showed great hand speed agianst Ruiz, and I watched the fight yesterday,if you want to include him on the basis of his phenomenal fast hands at the lighter weights so be it ,he must come near the top if not the top ,but then you open a can of worms ,eg Do we include Pattersons middleweight bouts ,his handspeed then was amazing? How about his fight with Maxim? Do you see where Im coming from/ Any way rather than argue I would put Jones,if you want to include him around the top with Floyd.

    Here's my top five.

    #1 Floyd Patterson
    #2 Muhammad Ali
    #3 Jack Johnson
    #4 Mike Tyson
    #5 Joe Louis

Roy Jones Jr, doesn't belong on my list because most of his fights were at middleweight and light heavyweight. Evander Holyfield deserves to be mentioned in this group as well. I still consider him more of a cruiserweight than a real heavyweight, but to quote Mike Tyson, "Holyfield threw first class counterpounches" after the first fight. I'm surprised hardly anyone mentions Jack Johnson, who was perhaps the greatest heavyweight defensive specialist having the quickest hands of his time.

Jones, although only had the one fight at HW, still weighed in as a heavyweight, fought a heavyweight, and pure out-classed him.

Its hard to say Jones wasn't the fastest HW to lace em up, regardless of the brief spell at HW

Some people aren't even including Jones in their top 5. Unbelievable.

Hard not to be fast against John Ruiz.

Jones need more at this weight. Not saying he wasnt a top 5 speed guy at this weight, it's just difficult to rank him above guys who were more proven at +190 lbs.

Marciano had next to lightning speed at times... although nobody can claim this for all of his fights. His double left hook was quite fast, again, at times.

Those hooks looked pretty fast at times. You need to remember travel distance from those tiny arms as well.

    Hand speed or delivery speed?

Speed of hand is over rated in this respect because you dont have to shorten a punch by much to multiply its speed, power and effect (relative to speed or power)
