1) Morales - Mcullough

This is the fight that made me the El Terrible fan I have been for a decade now (wow, where does the time fly??!!!). Still my fave match of his, at the absolute peak of his athleticism. Was the undercard to the Nas-Soto stinker, but complely upstaged them. Beautiful to watch.

2) Morales - Jones.

Thrilling battle with 'Poison', Jones, very much a "Mexico Vs NYC" theme, came in with a daunting record of 35-0 against Mexicans, just the year before had whipped Barrera silly, he was clearly looking to do likewise to Erik and the fight took place in none other than Erik's hometown of Tijuana. Interestingly, had an Englishman for a referee...

3) Barrera - Morales (2002)

This was the only fight during their trilogy where one of them punched the other to the canvas - and it was my boy, Erik who was standing!! Barrera, the king of going to the body, got a taste of his own medicine with a WHOOOOF! to the abdomone. They could've named the fight, 'Implosion of the Body-Bashers'!! Ridiculous decision of course, but more than worth it to see MAB on the canvas, looking up at Erik The Great...

4) Morales Vs Kelley

Not necessarily his greatest show of skill (although at one point he spun Kelley beautifully in the corner to trap him), but pretty much gave me the strongest evidence available that Erik would have crushed Hamed had they met at 126 in 1999. Kelley was almost 31 when he fought Naz. Two years later, he fought a much smarter fight, but the same power that dropped Naz twice didn't even alter Erik's hairstyle, who had Kelley pinned against the ropes like a *****, 5 thumping, unanswered uppercuts told the Ref it was all enough.

5) Morales Vs Pacquaio

Hardly needs explanation. Thrilling 12 rounds, the beginning phase of the handover from the old lion, to the young one. Absolutely soaring rendition of the Mexican national anthem, even I as a European was electrified to hear it.

In fairness, Erik has NEVER been in a bad fight, never. The closest he came was in '02 when he chose to box against Paulie Ayala, but even that was a sparkling showcase of technical skill.

Not at all, he thoroughly exposed Hamed for the fraudster that he is, and for that, despite being my man's sworn enemy, I'll always be grateful.

If I were going to hate MAB for anything it would be that stinker of a so-called "fight" with Pac in '07, I've seen more violence in an closed-down refuge for battered women.
