he didn't consistently lose, the man lost a handful of fights of a 150 odd, over a 15 plus year career, in arguably the most competitive era in boxing history, from a 12 year old Flyweight Pro, levelling out at L-HW, finishing at HW, with World Class rankings at WW, MW, L-HW and HW.

Yes Len Harvey IS the GREATEST Fighter in British Boxing History.

World Title Straps can mean nothing, depending on the Title, Opposition and the Era - Good or Not!

Roy's got the deepest resume of all. His 10th best win(Griffith or Castro) is waybetter than Floyd's 10th best win(lol maybe Manfredy? or an old tired Oscar)

Did Floyd ever fight a prime or peak great fighter? I don't think so. How would he fit in the criteria?

No, but in the modern era that doesn't happen often, imo he has a better résumé than Jones

I think Jones was better. Much more impressive, yet Jones also sort of followed the Floyd blueprint of avoiding the big fights and playing it safe. Jones fought some good guys at the wrong time. Toney was his best win timing wise. Hopkins was too early. Hill was too late. McCallum was way too late. He won the heavyweight title against Ruiz, which to me is not impressive at all. You have to land heavyweight punches on Jones to take advantage of being a heavyweight. Ruiz did not. I don't think Roy has a great great resume, but I like his resume and skills and performances more than Floyd's. He was real fighter. Floyd. Talented to be able to stay undefeated, I give him that but that is about it. He orchestrated his career and he was good enough to do it and focus on money, but a great fighter? Not really. He is the modern fighter for sure. He waited to fight Manny half a decade too late . He fought retreads mainly. Old guys or guys who never were like Guerrero and Ortiz. Marquez was not a welt. yet. Cotto loses to everyone good. Floyd avoided Margarito and Tyzyu the weight below. Paul Williams was never challenged. Made Canelo lose a couple of pounds and fought him early. Manny and Oscar old. Shane old.

    I can't put Harvey above
    Wilde
    Lynch
    Lewis
    Kid Lewis
    Fitzsimmons
    Berg
    Driscoll
    Welsh
    Moran
    Buchanan

    For me he belongs with;
    Baldock
Tarleton World ranked in 1929 and 1944!
    McAvoy
Conteh * No given that he beats Conteh at 175lbs, [Id pick Conteh]
    Kane A top flyweight
Charnley Unlucky to be at his peak when Brown was champ

He beat McAvoy 3 times ,but also lost to him,and Dundee twice, he lost Jeby, beat a 23 years old Thil, but lost to the older, better version, beat an on the way down Gains, won and lost to Petersen.
His best wins might be over a still potent Dave Shade, and his wins over McAvoy.
Not enough to rank him above those I named ,imo.
    ps He had 133 fights,not "over 150".

World titles don't mean a whole lot, but consistently losing when you fight world class fighters does. Who did he actually beat?

Shade and McAvoy. He lost his 3 fights in the States to 2 men who were not great middles.

    That probably sounded overly harsh.

He had a good career, but not wins of the calibre of an all time elite.

Spot on.The guy who picked him considers Bert Gilroy to have been a world class and great fighter, kept from a world title by a conspiracy, so he obviously has a different criteria when assessing fighters.

Too late I’ve already been diagnosed with the rockista. Side affects are common sense and a touch of awesomeness. Along with individuals referring to you as a “casual”

lmao This is why I cant take Roy haters seriously.

Hopkins was too early but went undefeated for over a decade after fighting Roy

Hill was too late yet would get arguably his best win of his career 2 years later

Hill relied on speed (legs and hands) and his jab and counter hook.. That is about youth and his style was all about being young. Once he starts to decline in age he is not as great a fighter and starts to stand still more. Hill was in 1998. 11 years after Hill beat Stewart. He will not get better with age, he will decline slowly. Sort of like Leonard who really would not have improved much as he got older. Ray started to hit on the break when he got older because he could not hit clean with normal counters.

None of that matters when 2 years after fighting Roy he moved up to CW and beat Tiozzo in what is probably his best win of his career(worst case his 2nd best win after Maske)
