Which guys had the best jab? Holmes Ali Liston Lewis Louis. Holyfield never gets mentioned but used great use of the jab against Bowe. Tyson out jabbed Tucker who had a very good and long jab. Carl Williams had one of the best jabs ive ever seen. So did Buster Douglas. I don't rate Wlads jab as it is not even a legal punch. Wlads jab is what some trainers call 'knocking at the door'. A jab is thrown from the chin and brought back to the chin. Wlad just paws with the thing and looks to see who's at home. The great jab is lost in HW boxing , although Pulev has shown very good use of it.
All the ones you said. Bruno had a good jab..rarely missed. Ray Mercer on a good night...Carl Williams yes..Ty Biggs.
In the interest of not repeating the obvious answers, here are another five: Riddick Bowe Pinklon Thomas Jimmy Ellis Ernie Terrell Andrew Golota
wow, who would have suspected that this would be another Wlad bashing thread by dinovelvet? I sure as hell didn't.... Anyways.... Not in any particular order. Wlad Holmes Lewis Ali Bowe or Liston Vitali also has a very good jab.... Not sure if he's top 5 though in terms of technique, but combined with his awkwardness I think he can outjab better jabbers than himself.
Joe Louis Sonny Liston Larry Holmes George Foreman Muhammad Ali Tyson is the most underrated jabber in heavyweight history. His jabs were extremely powerful.
Lennox Lewis held his jab out as well, didn't throw it from the chin. Joe Louis too. Lennox's jab was very similar to Wlad's. I think I've seen George saying that's the correct way to jab, shorten the blow. I suspect that's why 'jab' became the term preferred to 'straight left', when the fighters started shortening it up like that. I liked Pinklon Thomas's jab.
Gene Tunney had one of the best left hands ever - in fact probably my favourite guy to watch boxing behind that left hand, also Jersey Joe had beauty aswell, and Archie too, Tommy Farr as well
Wladimir Klitschko belongs in this list, obviously. Ali, Liston, Holmes, Wladimir Klitschko. Fifth is a free-for-all.
Wlad had the 4th greatest jab of all time? How is that possible? If you look at the Haye fight you will see his jab taken out of the picture completely with just a bit of upper body movement. Which can only mean Haye's head and shoulders were faster than the Wlad jab. Look at the Brewster fight and how he is totally unable to double and trippe it up to keep him at bay. If his jab is so good , why is he always wrapped around every guy he fights constantly instead of jabbing them off? What guy did he beat who had a solid jab? He seems to want no part of Pulev.
Transparent anti Waldo troll thread. He is definitely in the conversation of greatest heavyweight jab.
Carl "The Truth" Williams had a jab that was pretty highly regarded even though he's not on the 'great" list.
Neither of the Ukrainian heavyweights deserve to have their names mentioned here. They never beat a good opponent in their life EVER
