I realize in this case, there were just 5 champions in the 1950s, but I figured this was a logical place to start in the post-Louis era.

Back in the day when fighters were interesting. They had style, class, character. Can we please all appreciate how skilled and crafty Charles and JJW were? We had courageous and dedicaded sportsmen who fought about 30 times in 2 years (thats about the whole career of Tyson Fury).
We had the privilege to see the all time ko record holder Archie Moore knocking out guys like every 3 weeks. But my favorite fighter is Floyd Patterson. Such a nice respectful person. Maybe the fastest hands in boxing ever, with lightning fast power combinations. He contributed some of the most spectacular knockouts of all time. Even if it is not the strongest decade of HW Boxing. I wish that time back. I wish to see fighters like that again.

I’d even suggest Walcott has an argument for that two spot (career wise). I have no problem s ur order though it’s tough calls 2-4 and Walcott’s championship run was worse than the others

These men contributed to boxing a world of class, dignity and exciting ko's aplenty....making today's group look immature and buffoonish by comparison...though I hold a liking for Tyson Fury paradoxically.

Definitely not a lot separating those 3 in that time frame.

I do think Patterson is undersold here. I felt he was eiither 2 or 3 after Marciano. Charles and Patterson are the only ones to have 6 or more title defenses in the 50's where Walcott got 1, and Bingo got zero. So being on top from 56-59 has to count for something vs the 1 or 2 year rein of Charles and Walcott.

Can’t see there being a wrong answer 2-4 as all have excellent career wins. If it’s strictly title reign that’s a different story
