Who did he fight and beat in his second career. He got his shot because of his name not his qualification. Sorry but Foreman has quite a weak resume if you compare it to other top10-15 hws.

Are you kidding me? Foreman fought in the most difficult era of the HW division and won almost all of his fights by KO. He fought the same people Ali, Frazier did, yet he didn't get the gift decisions that so many people forget Ali received...

You dog Foremans record you dog Ali's record... can't have it both ways. You can dog Foreman for having a tough fight again the likes of Ron Lyle, but many people forget that not only did he KO Lyle, but Ali himself was losing against Lyle in the 11th round before he pulled off the comeback tko. The era of HW was so good, Lyle would be a champion in todays HW, no question.

When Foreman cameback he fought tamato cans for the money, but he did step up and fought the guys people said he would lose against and won or made good showings, Tyson even turned down a fight with Foreman if you remember correctly.

    Please enlighten me...

PS: Holyfield keeps getting the title fights because of his name... and how well is he doing in one of the worst eras of HW boxing ever? Oh yea, he is still losing...

The 70s hws are all quite a bit overrated due to their popularity the era was good but not that much better than a few others. Today´s era isn´that bad either, every era was seen as bad at their time. Standard and never true.
Lyle wouldn´t be champ today. Too crude, too small, worse defence. No way.
Foreman does not have the resume to be the number 1, not even a top5 hw. It can be argues that he is top10 but that´s about it. Look up his resume and than the resumes of guys like Ali, Louis, Marciano, Holmes, Lewis. Those guys had clearly a better career than him.

You obviously haven't been a boxing fan that long...

Who on Holmes resume is better than Frazier on Foremans resume? Oh yea nobody...

If the 70s HW are so overrated then why do they have so many All time greats? Even people you say are all time greats... doesn't make much sense does it?

That was clearly the best era of HW, you want to look at people who fought in weak divisions look at Marciano (who's best win was against an old Joe Louis or people who had no business at HW). Hw division in the early 80s was pretty **** poor imo, and todays HW divison is also aweful.

You're whole thing about resume is pretty laughable when you bring up guys like Ali (who I notices you didn't address the gifts on his "awesome" resume) him and Foreman fought a lot of the same people if you remember correctly..

Does this really make sense to you?

Wow, you really must know me pretty well.

Right but Holmes defended his title 20 times and nearly egalized Marciano´s 49 fights 49 wins record. Together with an all around better resume it´s an easy pick.

More than other eras? There were 3 in the 70s, perhaps 4 if you count the 60s relict Patterson. There were also 3 in the 90s, 4 if you count Foreman, 2 in the 80s, 3 if you count Ali, 3 in the 60s, 4 in the 50s, 2 in the 30s, 3 in the 20s, 2 in the 10s, if you count Jeanette and McVey as atgs it would be 4, 4 in the 00s, 4 in the 1890s, 3 in the 1880s. You see that´s not an argument.

Nope it isn´t. The early 1900s was pretty good also and 1990s are also very close. Please post these things you posted about Marciano at the classic forum, I wanna see them pick you apart :D
I agree the 80s and nowadays aren´t among the very best era´s, they are pretty average. There´s a thread about today´s contenders fighting 70s contenders and even the classic folks pick mostly today´s. Funny isn´t it.

Yeah, Ali did get some gifts and he was an awful person. I hate him as a person. but still he beat Liston 2 times, Patterson 2 times, Frazier 2 times, Foreman 1 time. Cleaned out the 60s and most of the 70s, was a three time hw champion. Foreman did nothing to reason he should be rank above Tyson.

You see it makes a lot of sense. You are just a nuthugger. It´s okay but also means you can´t be taken serious when it comes to Big George.

A lot of Holyfield diehards do, it was definently a closer fight than the 1st but Lewis still deserved the W. The best Holyfield could of gotten was a draw if you score every close round to Holyfield.

I recently watched and scored it and had it 7-5 Lewis.

He knocked out a china chin and one of the weakest ever champions in history in Michael Moorer. He lost every round in the fight as well, and didn't deserve a third title shot anyway he hadn't fought in a year and a half and was beaten in his last fight by TOMMY MORRISON of all people.

Foreman's second career is so massivly over rated it's laughable, I give him a lot of credit for his toughness and winning the title but he also lost and got gifts against mediocre fighters.

How you can rate Foreman 1 when a faded Ali knocked him out is beyond human comprehension.

Where's Danny Williams? I've heard people say Tyson was near his best when he fought him so he deserves to be on a top ten list.

Because he was suffering from HGH-itis. Just like in the Bowe rubber match. HGH-itis messed up his energy.
