Are you aware Andrade got dropped against Yusaf Mack? Not that I'm going to argue his inclusion in an iron chin list, but a 10/10?
I'm gonna have to agree on that one.... after he fought countless rds. with a broken one against Miranda, you can't argue against that!
Tua was technically dropped by Rahman at the bell it was close I will have to go back and watch that fight again to see how close it was. It does not change that he has an Iron Chin. And to the moron that mentioned James Toney he was dropped by a Jab by Sam Peter whose on power is WAY overrated his best KO is Makaev or Jeremy Williams both who have awful Glass Jaws.
Mercado was heavy-handed, all Columbian's tend to be for seem reason. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIjokbuzenc&feature=related[/ame] First knockdown, skip to 6:25. This is round 5. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvxl9NhXdLQ&feature=related[/ame] Second knockdown, skip to about 4:15. This is round 7. But I'm of a firm belief that a chin can improve, I mean watch Winky Wright's fight with Julio Cesar Vazquez early on, he got dropped I think 5 times in that fight, but later on in his career, he literally let Shane Mosley hit him flush and he barely blinked. I think it's to do with filling out in build & stature and stabilizing the weight making process. Because boxers are often boiling down and cutting large amounts of fat and/or water weight, I think the tolerances are so fine in how and when they lose it that it can have a major affect on a guy's centre of gravity & balance & therefore punch-resistance.
Vazquez and mosely are totally way off from eachother as far as power punchers are concerned at 154. no comparisson at 154
Huh? I was talking about Andrade getting dropped by Yusaf Mack. Peter has very good power in my opinion. It's just often he doesn't come into shape and use it. Plus his technique isn't great. His raw, natural power is there. Have you got a link to that KD at all, I don't remember it. Anyway, you have to consider Toney was a former 160lber, and he's still taken punches on occasion from HW's, though Matt Greer rocked him the other week.
Mosley could still bang at 154, that's been evidenced even as recently as the Mayorga fight, and Winky let him load up and hit him flush. A shot like that takes some standing up to. Vazquez more often than not in his title reign went the distance anyway, 6 stoppages out of 13 if I'm correct. Admittedly the guy could bang, but he's not miles ahead of Mosley in the power department.
MOst south americans and central americans seem to be blessed with Power. and pretty solid chin as far as latins are concerned. maybe it has something to do with the purity of their diet
in the 2nd fight i belive WW puts his hands down msoely goes to the body then head and rocks winey winkey holds on. and how many Ko's did mosley have at 154? actual ko's where he put the fighter flat on their backs. Vargas we already know was beyond shot. and Mayorga is hardly known for his durabily any more. and it took him 12 rounds Mosely was not that big of a puncher at 154
