Lopez? Really? 58 fights including 26 title fights without a loss? You can say he was overrated if you don't think he had the best competion, but on a list of "most" overrated? Ditto for Galaxy. I've only seen him on film, but the guy was a splendid fighter during the latter part of his career, and I doubt I've seen that kind of power in that size a fighter anywhere else.
Lopez is often rated amongst the 'greats'. That is overrated IMO. His competition was poor and he's often claimed to be 'one of the greatest'. He spent most of his career battering ill-equipped midgets. Alvarez wasn't all that either. Khaosai was never even the no.1 in his division. Title fights mean nothing if you're not even the champion.
to be fair, i think the debates you have had over the years with many posters (one of whom was perma banned) have seen lopez rated in a more realistic light as of late. I was one of his most vocal supporters and proponents and no longer have him in the same spot i did after re-evaulation
I have most of the day off and a four day weekend. I got 6 fights to watch this afternoon including lopez/alvarez 2. On film, in 100 years without any context to his fights, the division or his opponents quality historians may rank him top 10 all time. But like you said, he looks so good on film in part cause he's fighting ****. and not that I know of but you fought about lopez with a LOT of guys i guess:bbb:twisted:
True. Let's not forget, I am a big fan of Lopez's. I own all of his fightson DVD and have watched them at least twice each. I love watching him fight, and think he was in a class of his own .at straw.
Yes it got quite intense It's a pity that quite a few of the posters form a couple of years back no longer post here:smoke
but you still don't see a place for him in the top 100 all time? I can't dig on that one. being the greatest ever at even a historically very weak division (minimum) counts for something. and he was virtually perfect on film. btw: i'm ordering his career set along with an ezzard charles collection this afternoon. just rounding out my roberto duran collection this week (FINALLY watched the kobayashi fight last night)
I can't see how by any stretch of the imagination that Ali is overrated. From '62 to '80 he fought and beat just about every top heavyweight around some more more than once,he ducked no one.
