Montgomery is a very nice call. I always felt he was on par with Williams & Jack but never seems tet mentioned alongside of them and not even close in terms of frequency. Angott (who does not get much mention around here either) always seemed to have his number though.

 

The Cobra was one of the best offensive fighters I ever saw. I was at several of his fights both as an ametuer and as a pro ( I fought his brother as an ametuer and became a fan of both of them). His two weaknesses though will always keep him from being considered a great fighter.
His defense was always suspect, mostly because he seemed to concentrate so much on finding an opening to use his usually superior punching speed and power (great power in both hands) and an average to below-average chin.

 

I'm not so sure about lltime, but in recent televised bouts era;

Gregorian. I used to enjoy getting this guys fights and he was no pushover in there

used to be Kalambay was here but lately he seems to be gathering appreciation. How about Lamon Brewster? He was no soft touch/avoided/but had flaws and strengths with that set of whiskers and big heart. I think the guy fits in well w/ those 80's heavies that would look good at times, but never all the time and just too many warts.

 

I'd say more forgotten by many and then often thrown into the mix of old timers who were primitive when in reality he was exceptional ...

 

Grigorian is a good pick.He had at least as much talent as calzaghe back when both first picked up the WBO belt.Hampered by a lot of injuries, but someone i would like to have seen in with Castillo, Johnston etc

Wasted career never stepping up until cashing in when shot.
