Pedroza definitely had a touch of doom. I haven't heard of Moreno, but if you're mentioning him, he must've been a killer.
Insane isn't it. I don't think a lot of people realise just how huge a puncher SRR was. I also believe many don't realise how blindingly fast Joe Louis' punches were.
There really is Langford followed by Fitz a d the rest, P4P, drop a class .. those two middleweights flattened heavyweights ... Langford especially big heavyweights .. guys like Wills, Flynn and Jeanette said no one ever hit them harder .. Choynski was up there , a super middleweight that flattened heavyweights .. Tommy Hearns did go from 147 to 175 and flattened champions .. he deserves a nod .. Curtis Shepard was a monster .. Rocky Marciano at 184 may be another top P4P puncher
No. It was me headslapping because I forget to consider them. Top 5 is too difficult. I will say that one reason I discard Shavers is his lack of top quality KO victims.
Excellent summary! It was hard leaving Choynski off my list and he could just as easily have replaced Ketchel ,testimony that he hit them the hardest from five heavyweight champions, Jeffries,Corbett,Sharkey,Fitz ,and Johnson is very compelling!

Shavers power is overrated, IMHO. If it was that good he'd have laid out everyone he met. At least with Foreman he beat the pi$$ out of Fraizer because of that power. Foster is a great shout. I forgot about him. That left hook, man, Bob really "punched through the target" with that one.
Agreed. Shavers's punching power is totally overrated. My own pick at HW would be Tua. I can't think of anyone his size or weight that could hit harder.
When it comes to Shavers people here confuses power with finishing ability. He was not anywhere near Tyson and Louis in terms of combos and finishing, but he probably exceeded both of them in terms of power in a single punch. Young, Lyle (I think), Norton, Ali and Holmes have all said he was the hardest puncher they met. That says a lot since they faced Tyson and Foreman between them.
"...but he probably exceeded both of them in terms of power in a single punch." There's nothing on video to support that.
Makes no sense. If Shavers hit that hard there'd be no need for finishing people. Besides, if he punched has hard as many say, finishing would be easy due to his opponents not knowing where they are.
