So, I was watching Rigo/Donaire highlights and it got me thinking. Anybody have any other fights where a top 5 p4per gets completely taken to school by a unranked fighter?
Barrera - Pacquiao JMM - Mayweather (as he was retired) Taylor - Pavlik (Taylor was #4 according to The Ring entering) If we include fights where at least half of fans thought the guy who won actually deserved to lose, than we can include Williams - Sergio and Sergio-Murray.
Taylor-Pavlik was not a schooling at all. Martinez-Williams I was far from a schooling. We should not change the definition of a schooling. A schooling is one fighter outboxes another one, either to a 10-12 round decision, or schools him then stops him. Pavlik did not school Taylor, Martinez did not not school Williams. If i'm not mistake, Hopkins was not ranked in the top 10 P4P when he fought Pavlik, who was in the top 10 P4P. That is what you call a schooling.
Yea, I was thinking fights like Pac/MAB and Tyson/Douglas. Fights where the highly rated fighter could hardly win a round.
Murray-Martinez, Pavlik-Taylor, Martinez-Williams and even Barrera-Hamed were not schoolings. Schoolings are fights where the scores are extremely wide (e.g. Rigo-Donaire) and/or a dominating stoppage is involved (Pac-Barrera). Where was Hopkins ranked when he beat Tito? I'd throw that in there.
Geez, ok chill out threatening keyboard warriors. Not a schooling, I ****ing know that, but Pavlik/Taylor was totally decisive. The fact that you guys feel the need to aggressively tell me that it was not a schooling makes you guys look dumb for thinking that I've never watched it. Just naming recent examples. There aren't that many "schoolings" which fit the description, so if you keep listing them from the biggest "schoolings" to the least "schoolings," than that fight will show up in not that long.
