So name me the more skilled and accomplished fighter than? I'm waiting. You said it was highly debatable, so debate!

You may have a point and I will neither agree nor disagree. I will say however that a rotator cuff injury is pretty serious business. Especially if you're participating in an activity where that shoulder and arm are constantly being used to both throw and block punches. Apparently, the injury became evident in the third round and by about the sixth, was causing him excruciating pain. I watch the HBO documentary today entitled " Klitschko." According to the men who were working his corner that night, he was in so much agony that it showed in his eyes. Now, would Muhammad Ali had quit on his stool had he been feeling the same pain? I have no clue. But he did tell his corner to cut the gloves off at the end of the 13th round in the Thrilla fight.. It was only by some saving grace that Joe's corner had called the fight about two seconds earlier...

Just going by my recollection I'm pretty sure the injury was sustained in the 5th round, but I could be wrong. Also, I don't recall seeing any pain on his face but I wasn't there in his corner live either. Nobody knows how painful anyone else's injury really are. But this is what separates the greats from the "could of" been greats. Liston and Ali fought on with broken jaws. Holmes with a torn bicep. Frazier could blind in one eye and wanted to keep going against Ali in Manila in spite of not being able to see a thing and taking a terrible beating. These things are what makes fighters great, what they will always be remembered for. But quitting while up on the cards with 3 rounds left in a fight against a guy who shouldn't be able to hurt you? I just don't see it.

You said you only use facts, and I just proved to you that you don't use all facts. I never mentioned anything being debatable, don't know where that came from.

    True,

and I agree that he should lose some points for quitting against Byrd. But some people use this single performance to sum up his whole career, and that's a tad unfair.

Are you saying it isn't a FACT that after Lewis, Byrd was the second most skilled and accomplished fighter Vittles fought? You don't have to be afraid, just say it! :yep

i agree, vitali does have a horrid resume. it's hard to argue otherwise. H2H he's a monster right there at the top.

Archie moore never beat patterson. he was knocked out by him.

Hey Jab. GOod thread. Before I go I wanna also point out a couple of things.

1- When Rahman was actually still a decent fighter,Vitali pulled out of the Rahman fight 4 straight times in 1 year. That's a bit suspicious and odd?
    4 times in one year.

2-Vitali did admit he took steriods when he was younger? He just said that he 'didn't know what it was'

3- I think Haye will beat Vitali now and possibly tko6 him. A great end to his legacy.

I proved you wrong and now you're dodging it. I don't care about Vitali, but no it is not a fact, just an opinion. Just like you said so yourself.

Why do you need 5 reasons. How about he's just not that good and his resume sucks. Ditto for Wladimir.
