What were, in your opinion, the Top 5 Wladimir Klitschko's performances before he linked up with Emanuel Steward? Is Axel Schulz, Chris Byrd, Francois Botha, Ray Mercer & Jameel McCline a safe bet?
Yeah stopping really durable guys like Schulz, Mercer should be on list. Definitely Byrd and Mccline. For a 5th spot maybe Shufford was a durable guy coming off a win over Brewster. Barrett’s a good win too.
Wlad did great work in the clinch throwing all this powerful hooks and combinations as Barrett was trying to hold on.
I really liked the Schulz bout. That was the first time he really used that jab to control the bout. Much better refinement than his previous bouts and beating Axel in Germany is no easy night's work.
Hot take but I think there's argument to be made for it. I personally think Peter, Arreola and Adamek are better than anyone Wlad faced during his WBO "reign".
