Those guys are worse title holders then say Gavin Rees? Or guys who held it for one time... Ottke made a load of defences - some dubious decision but he clearly won a lot of fights.
You're outa your mind if you think the blatantly illegal holding Ruiz did is anyway comparable to anything Evander ever did. And Holyfield never pulled a cowardly move like faking a low blow. Ruiz, however, did pull that manuever against Holyfield, as well as a few other fighters. It's not just that Ruiz is a crappy fighter with limited skills that makes him the worst - it's that he cheated to "win" fights he would never have won with his mediocre abilities.
I have to agree...say whatever you want, but Ottke wasn't as bad as many people think. Beyer, well, he doesn't belong in this list, but he wasn't a good fighter.
Agreed on erik aiken, I dont think this guy actually realized how valuable that title was. and Carlos Maussa is definetely the all time worst.
Ottke does not belong in this tread. I basically hate Ottke. He got several decisions which were robberies (Larsen, Reid etc.) BUT he is actually a good (although extraordinarlily boring!!!! fighter. At least half the champs at his time were worse than him. They were just not as infamous because they didn't get the equally infamous gift decisions.
I don't think Peden deserves to be on that list at all. As I remember it, the early-mid 1990s were abound with poor quality champions. Here's 5 of the best I can remember: 1.Michael Bentt (WBO heavy champ 93-94) 2.Steve Robinson (WBO feather 93-95) 3.Vincenzo Nardiello (WBC supermiddle 96) 4.Freddie Pendleton (IBF light 93-94) 5.Jimmy Bredahl (WBO superfeather 93-94) Special mention must also go to Gavin Rees - dreadful.
