This is a pretty reasonable list, but you forgot the guy who won every major title from Lightweight to heavyweight that he competed in. That seems a particular problem given the criteria.

I see no reason why Watanabe should be denied his rightful place in the top ten any longer.

Come one, it's really not that bad considering what I was expecting when I clicked on the thread...and he's basically rendered the whole list reasonable (and meaningless) by taking into account social impact or whatever he said.

    Not bad.

Asero has come a long way over the years...his timelessness criteria has changed the way we make such lists forever.

These Top 50 lists are too 'watered down'.

It should kept for the Top 10 only,,,,,,maybe Top 15.

Like the Top 100 in football.

Does anybody really care after Jim Brown and Dick Butkus.

oh so this is a popularity contest.?
What a Harry Greb, A Sam Langford, a Fitz did as smaller men, outshines all the above...To cite "any stranger on the street ", is not a serious post..ESB classic deserves better....

For the so-called boxing historians,,,,,,,,,,,yes that 'long list' means something.

But really, how can you rate a guy like Bob Fitzsimmons.

Or are you just looking at a few spots on his boxing record?

How did his accomplishments impact you?

What did 160 pound Fitz accomplish, ? Read boxing history and know he was virtually unbeatable as a middleweight, and later on to make money at 160-65,he flattened powerful heavyweights as Peter Maher twice,Gus Ruhlin, iron-clad Tom Sharkey[the Marciano of his day strenghwise] James j Corbett, etc... Not bad for a'fighting machine on stilts ", Ruby Robert. What 160 pound fighter you can cite, can emulate the immortal Bob Fitzimmons ?

Yes,,,,but what impact did he have in boxing back then.
Other than being very very good.

Jess Willard had a bigger impact on boxing than Ruby Red.
