Good stab off the top of your head.

But no Lanford. He's my number one, he can't possibley be outside the top 15 so if he's not in your 50...

No Barbados JOe Walcott, no Charley Burley...both top 25...

You're also missing Ted Kid Lewis and Jack Britton, two more must haves...both are certainly above Hopkins.

    Yes, that's right.

    OR.

Jack Britton - 350 fights in what is considered the "golden age" of the division, stopped once - in his sixth pro fight. He was also the champion of the world if that interests you.

I appreciate you are something of a modernist. But perhaps you need to learn about the fighters under consideration before you open your mouth.

I consider Duilio Loi a top 50 fighter now (although I didn't the last time I made a list).

    How about Joe Gans?

Ruben Olivares should be above Barrera, for example, in my opinion...Canzoneri? Surely he's one of the best 50?

Sorry for the multiple posts, just thinking as I go.

Loi beat Ortiz twice and was robbed (by general concensus).

He also had a series of three with the underated Eddie Perkins going 1-1-1. I love that the Perkins win came so far past prime, it was Loi's last fight.

The man is 115-3. Three losses.

A hometown loss to the unheralded Johansen, later avenged, ATG Ortiz (robbery) later avenged, Perkins, an excellent champ, avenged.

Also - he was a lightweight. Loi moved up because he couldn't get a shot at the lightweight title. Head to head at lightweight - Duran, Whitaker, you'd need someone like that to beat him i'd bet. IF.

His other wins are solid rather than spectacular but other than beating absolutley everybody that is put in front of you, one weight above where you are best, what else can you do? What more do you want?

    He's top 50 allright.

i still think threres a lot of guys who fought and beat better comp than Loi did.
btw do you have Loche in your top 50?if you have Loi you need to have Loche in there too.

That might be true...but Hopkins isn't one of them, and I have him at #51. 115-3 with all losses avenged? If you're primarily interested in resume, where do you have Lopez?

    Valid.

O'Brien, Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales, Benitez, Tyson and a lot of the Heavyweights are too high for a P4P list I think. A few moe, but overall good fighters in there. Langford is top 5, so you might wanna make a place for him. Canzoneri and Gans are two good choices by McGrain, surely they belong.
