    Joppy and Keith Holmes.Just no.

Steve Collins lost every time he stepped up at middleweight by the way.

Holmes & Joppy were both two time Champions, that achievement alone should at least get them on the list.

    Collins was WBO Middleweight Champ.

I'd argue the fact they weren't very good should keep them off.Too many good fighters to give guys the benefit of the doubt just for picking up belts in a very weak period for the division.

You're right Collins eventually picked up the WBO belt, but it was in a poor performance against ordinary Pyatt who had won the fight in a could have gone either way bout against a washed up-ten punches a round-kalambay.Hardly impressive stuff.

steve was a good fighter, but his best performance was probably losing a close decision to Johnson, who should really be above him.

Bobo, Turpin, Giardello, Cerdan, Flowers, Tiger, Fullmer, possibly LaMotta, and Greb should be higher. Zale and possibly Robinson should be lower.

Why would you pick Haglar over Robinson????????

If Robinson had so much trouble with Fullmer because of the strength issue, it would be more so with Hagler. Plus Hagler is obviously much better boxer than Fullmer or Basilio, who both gave Robinson a lot of trouble.

MWS, Sure Robinson had troubles with Fullmer and Basilio... so much so, he beat both men in returns. KOing Fullmer in 5 .. 2 days short of his 35th Bday, and securing the MW title for the 5th time from Basilio at the age of 36. Both Fullmer and Basilio may not have been giants, although SRR lost to, and regained titles from both inside 15 months.

Fine, SRR may have been a smaller MW, lean in girth and legs, yet he must be recognised as a monster in class. Willingness to mix it with all in close, out box them at distance, KO from range etc. Toughness, endureance and all credentials that make a champion engulfed SRR for years.

I cant say anything negative about Haglar, as his record is brilliant. Pity he never took the time to regain the M/W title, from another former Welterweight champ.

Head to Head, SRR would be unquestionably a better prospect against Haglar than SRL, even with the loss at mention.. IMO!!!

    Cheers.

As you'd well know, When Carl 'Bobo' Olson won the vacant world middleweight title from Randy Turpin in 1953, he was quoted as saying:

"This title should belong to Dave Sands".

Sands, not only had the brilliant record of 97 wins from 108 bouts (there are varying accounts of his record too of course), he beat Olson conclusively in both their bouts (1950 & 1951). Had he not been tragically killed in a motor accident in 1952, who knows???

Jones is a little too high at middleweight.
