Where would you rank Pacquiao in a preliminary list if he retired right now? We all agree he is definitely top 100, just not sure if he is top 50 yet...
Perhaps the greatest Asian fighter of all time, one of the greats of the lower weights, and one of the best P4P swarmers of all time. Not quite in my top 35, but no questions about it a great fighter.
#4 seriously i dunno and looking at these lists its hard to squeak him in at top 55. Id say maybe 70-80 it wouldnt bother me even if he didnt make any top 100 lists at all, so many great fighters.
Yeah, not top 50 by my book at all. I'm surprised so many give him full credit for his fights with Marquez. Not tomention full credit for beating a past prime Morales twice(while losing once) and a win over Barrera when close to prime. All great fighters, but not neccessarily at their best, and against the ones close to their prime(Marquez) he didn't look so hot. Definitely not top 50 by my books, considering I didn't have him beating Marquez. I agree with Bomm_Boom, around the 70-80 territory may be suitable.
no larry holmes of jack johnson? and i think rjj could b a lil higher but he's hard to rank. but head to head i think he can beat some of the fighters ahead of him.
Is this of the top of your head? ****ing great effort! Some observations: Joe Walcott is far to low. He's arguably top 10, leaving him out of the 30 is ridiculous. As you've said you ned Ted Lewis - but you also need Jack Britton, and probably a shade above him. Hopkins above Mayweather? Mayweather has the superior skillset, resume and dominated at more divisions, no? Strike Kid Chocolate. Mickey Walker outside the 12 needs explaining. Hope the chemistry goes ok.
I've actually done a 100 - but it wasn't very good. It was kind of mushy. But I always felt my 50 was pretty solid, so I'm tweaking it with a view to another stab at 100. If I get there, I'll post it.
I'd have Jimmy Wilde and Duran higher (duran would be around 3 on mine if i could ever be arsed to do it) Other than that i like the list it kind of makes sense
Nice lists. All have their fair share of merits despite not agreeing with absolutely every one. Ps: McGrain: I do think Duran is a tad high, other points would be that I'd have Armstrong #1 (similar top 4 to mine though), Leonard would move up a bit and Louis above Ali. Tunney is a tricky one not too sure myself where exactly I'd out him but your placing seems reasonable enough. Very good effort, though as these are time comsuming and hellish to construct and need alot of time and thought. I think I'll have a go at mine later on. Maybe. (still need to flesh out mine to that number and weight up different criteria etc. Sometime I'm sure).
Jones does not have a serious resume compared to everyone else in the top 25. He has the worst resume of those men by a margin. So it is indeed on skillset/h2h that he ranks so highly. But higher? Not with his list of defeated, no.
yes, spinks was his greatest win. he send him to retirement:yep the holmes win was great but the argument that holmes was past his prime made it sub par compared to his win against a prime undefeated spinks. Its just to bad that guys like lennox and holyfield get to fight tyson in his late career.
good lisdt i would take out R.Lopez,Loi,Villa and Liston and would put W.Gomez,K.Gavilan,F.Harada and T.Flowers.
