    Muhammad Ali

Took 500 flush power punches in his career. Horrible sloppy defense esp. in the 70ies. And before clowns come with silly smilies, think about it, what a proper defense should do.

    Duran, Chavez had excellent defence's.

It suprises me how many people underestimate there dedences (not talking about you), Duran was the best out of the list, very good at avoiding punches whilst moving foward, very few could ever do it, Ward does this well - but is far less aggressive

Naz had a good defence, poor balance if anything, but use to roll with alot of the punches

Even in the prime of his career, the guy frequently took massive shots, so I agree.

Duran his defence was from another world if you look at how offensive he was.

ali had great reflexes and balance and he could avoid punches in half of his carrier but when he got little bit older (after 3 years pause) his reflexes werent so great and he started getting more punches because of his hands down defense and rope a dope...

valero had his chin up while punching, but noone never tested that chin. maybe because of his relentless attacks they have never had a time to counter him or more likely he had to fight little more better opponents.. sad we will never see that.

    Yep.

I forgot about Ali. He made up for it with an iron chin, a warrior's heart, and great offense, but he had huge holes in his defense, esp how he held his hands. He took a LOT of shots, even in his early career.

He even got a fair amount of hits against slomo Liston once he wasn't dancing on the far outside.
