Top current active fighters who aren't "alpha" males

There are no real alpha males outside of Mayweather right now. To be alpha male you can't be saying nice things about other fighters that want to face or will be facing you. Pacquiao for example is too nice to be an alpha male.

Mike Tyson back in his prime was the epitome of alpha male. Ruthless.

 

Floyd never cried about being in jail. Considering the gruelling training that Mayweather goes through on a regular basis, jail is nothing. Soldiers in the army or the U.S marines for example are usually characterized as "tough" because of their training. Elite boxing training, the kind that Mayweather goes through makes Marine training look like a joke. Theres very few people in the entire world that can go through the training he does, not once, not twice but for about 2-3 decades on a consistent basis.

 

Carl Froch is an alpha male for sure. Kessler on the other hand seems to be more of a beta.

 

I'd say Ward is a beta. He isn't dominant in his talk or attitude. Seems like a great guy though.

 

Froch always say it like it is (with twists in his favour, but he isn't bullshitting). He has 100% confidence in himself when he talks and promotes himself, he isn't afraid of talking down to people and makes himself respected.

 

Considering that Lamont Peterson has little testosterone, he'd be beta minus.

 

You realize there are boxers who might kill you if you disrespect them? Alvarado and Rios would fair much better without body guards

 

Why associate ruthlessness and being a mean person with alpha male status? Alpha's are dominant and keep order, they don't have to resort to ripping each other to pieces to do it. Andre Ward is a good example.

He didn't crumble at all after losing to Buster Douglas. In fact, he made a great comeback that is very underrated. He beat a former rival that beat him twice in the amateur and had two hard fought battles against a highly ranked heavyweight Razor Ruddock. He demonstrated his heart in these two fights.

Even in the Buster Douglas fight, Tyson showed incredible heart. The reason is because Mike was incredibly tired after the 5th round to to dehydrating himself to make weight.

Also during his success, he was highly confident in himself and believed in himself completely. That coupled with his amazing knockout power gave him the alpha male status.
