Yeah. Well, note that, and then find out which other top light-heavies didn't meet their #4 contender and get back to me.
Everyone has different circumstances surrounding them. You can only fight who's available. I wouldn't argue with anyone's criteria if they couldn't find a place for him in the top ten. But he has to be one of the best fighters who's ever fought at the weight. The LHW division that he fought in wasn't weak. It obviously wasn't as strong as some other eras, but I wouldn't call it weak. And it was a stronger division than the SMW division that he left in late 96. I'm sure that in every era, the top guys fought low level guys at some point. But there were some decent fighters in Roy's era. But why have you deliberately picked out the worst fighters?
What would Roch have done for him? It wasn't a glaring omission. There's gaps in everyone's resume. Roy fought most of the top ten ranked guys while at the weight.
See, at the level where it really matters, you've now stopped making sense. Eric Harding was ranked #2. Reggie Johnson was ranked #3. These guys were both beaten by Jones, and yet you want to criticise him for failing to meet a guy who was never ranked higher than four. See what I mean? You are labelling top 3 contenders "poor" then attacking him for not fighting a guy who never made the top three. You can't have it both ways.
He fought other decent fighters at the weight. Again, if you don't think his resume is strong enough for him to be ranked in the top ten, I've no issue with that. But I think you can definitely argue that he was one of the best fighters who ever fought at the weight.
I just can't fathom how you think victories over a washed up 55 Maxim, a washed up 55 layne, Brian London and John holman are really good victories. I think any average heavyweight could achieve victories over those 4 men
Old thread, but wondering what's changed since 2015. Kovalev did some more (and probably should have beat Ward first fight), but also had some not great losses (upset KO to Eleider Alvarez, getting KOd by a guy moving up in weight). Thinking he stays around where he is. Ward beat Kovalev, but might have too few fights to crack the list. Main question is where Beterbiev and Bivol would be. I'm guessing Beterbiev is on here somewhere (lineal status, big win over Gvozdyk, a number of destructive wins over top 10 guys like the Smiths, Browne, Yarde etc.) Bivol maybe too, depending on how you rate the Canelo win. Otherwise, resume is somewhat comparable to Beef, less Gvozdyk (Ramirez, Smith, Pascal, Barrera). Obviously, winner would rocket up the list, question is how high (top 20? 15?)
Galindez is underrated. El Tigre de Moron beats the heck out of everybody in Tier IV and most in Tier III. He should be at least Tier III, maybe Tier II.
No room for Jimmy Bivins? At or near 175 he beat; Sheppard Pastor Maxim Mauriello x2 Valentino Christoforidis Lesnevich Soose He also beat Marshall and Charles, but had weight on them.
