Pavlik deserves his place in a thread like this, if for nothing more his unflappable nature after being near knocked out against Taylor.

I still remember the doctor saying "Are you ok Kelly?" and he looked up, smiled at him and in a really laid back way said, "Yeah doc, I'll be fine", smiled and then got back into business.

He's got character, this kid, I hope the reports of him fighting Calzaghe aren't true because it's not a fight he'll do well in.

It's got nothing on Lacy, Kessler & Hopkins though as a trio, considering that Lacy was better than Pavlik at that time and Kessler is definitely better than Wright.

Spinks is no mention, that was meant to be a 'gimme'.

In fact, if the ****s want to mention Spinks and Ouma, go ahead and mention Bika as well.

You do know that Pavlik has absolutely no chance against Calzaghe right?:yep

Mr. Amsterdam, buddy, the only fighter of note Lacy had beaten at the time of the Calz showdown was an old faded ass Robin Reid. He was only at 21 fights at the time too. Now are you being serious in saying Lacy at that time was better than Pavlik is now??

    Come on bro!

P.S.- Are you still mad at me, for a comment I'd really thought you would have laughed at??:D

If so, I would like to publicly appolagize, sir.

These fights will happen.. Give him some time.. Just because he moved up to fight David Diaz doesn't mean he's ducking.. Arum set the fight for him anyways.. Guess you can say JMM is ducking Guzzy too then..

    Guys I give credit too..

Manny Pacquiao: For fighting many top challengers from many different divisions.
    Arthur Abraham: The Miranda fight.
    Miguel Cotto: Fights Anybody.
Israel Vazquez & Rafael Marquez: Should be self explanatory.
Charlie Zelenoff: For making a pro debut. :D

I hope we do - all that talk of RJJ was making me almost not care. I will go on record in saying that I would boycott that particular fight. As soon as this Pavlik story broke I got excited. It's clearly what all the fans want. If it happens, I will be very happy. Pavlik is a good challenge and I'm sure with Lockett involved, it's very makeable. I'm sure the powers that be keep an eye on these forums so I'm pleased there seems to be such a good response to the rumours; keep making more threads! :good

I would love the fight to be in New York too. Joe needn't fight in Wales again, I would feel very uncomfortable with that. They would clearly be ripping the new fans off. As a long time JC supporter, I wouldn't go to the fight even though it's RJJ and in Cardiff. And even though I spent quite a bit going to Vegas for the Hopkins fight, I have no interest in seeing a 40 year Roy Jones Jnr against Calzaghe. I love Roy and would pay to see him in Cardiff as a 40 year old in some sort of exhibition, but in a top level fight? No chance.

Lifetime ban bets are made by cowards who don't want to take the heat if they are wrong.:good

Forget that. I'll make a lifetime avatar bet with you that Joe beats Pavlik very easily. If it's a tough fight, I'll take the loss.:deal

Vanderpool, Pemberton, Sheika, Williams and Reid were all good victories for a kid that hadn't even gotten to his 20th fight when he beat them.

Pavlik definitely has the edge, with Zuniga, Miranda and Taylor x2 being a better career and I would expect Pavlik to destroy Lacy at this stage in their respective careers unless Lacy landed something early.

But don't paint Lacy up as some bum who never was, the kid for a guy who had only 20 fights was dynamite, that was why he was hyped so much.

I forgot he fought Ouma.. all I was pointing out was that the run was who he has faced in world level fights, it's very impressive for one so young.

Joe's first few world level fights:

    Eubank - Sobot - Gimenez - Reid - Thornberry - Starie

I mean, even the most proud of Calzaghe supporters can't claim that those guys outdo Taylor's list. Although, the results take something away from Taylor. Both have equally big balls... only one has an overly cautious manager.

Hmmmm.... Very intriguing. I will think about that. I have fought the Calzombies tooth and nail since I came on here, and being wrong on 50% of my post count on here would indeed be a ***** to swallow.

I'll not go into details out of respect for the LHW/SMW World Champion, but I would rather Pav got starched by Miranda, and I would have to bow down to Pantera 2000.

Also, I would need clarification on your idea of a tough fight, from Pavlik.

Well duh, Hopkins alone on Taylor's list meant for a younger fighter, he had a hell of a resume.

Be harder pressed to find a fighter under 30 with a better resume than Taylor prior to the first Pavlik fight. (disregarding disputed decisions)
