I recently did a post for the blog I write for about Five active British Boxers who take the best punch.

I'm not going to link to the post because it will seem like that's the only reason I'm making this thread. So instead here is my list.

    1) Carl Froch
    2) Dereck Chisora
    3) Matthew Hatton
    4) Nathan Cleverly
    5) Ricky Burns

    So what's your list?

And no I didn't include Amir Khan or Enzo Maccarinelli.

Ofa Afolabi has a good chin, he's been in with some big punchers and toughed it out.

He has, and he was considered but the stoppage loss was enough for me to include Burns instead of him.

Very good shout. He's doesn't come to mind when you think of British boxers even though he is.

    Current or all time?

The present lot aren't a great deal to write home about in all honesty....

    Eubank, Woods, Buchanan, Lewis....

Currently you'd have to look at Froch, Matt Hatton, Burns etc.

What do you actually mean by chin though? Some boxers have been stopped without actually being knockout or knockdown they just haven't thrown anything back for a while and have been taking too much punishment. Darren Barker has a fairly good chin and it was a blow to the temple that finished him off against Martinez.

Without going into serious debate... Really?

Froch got hurt and dropped by Jermain Taylor, he's been stung by Dirrell and Kessler too. He has a decent chin, but nothing exceptional.

Chisora? Other than toughing it out against the ancient Vitali, he got flattened by Haye and has looked hurt against Fury (no puncher).

    Decent chins, not exceptional.

Another boxer that is classed as British even though he's based elsewhere is Ajose Olusegun, I know he got stopped in his last fight but he took some punishment and kept coming, lesser men would have folded a lot earlier, Matthysse was relentless.

    Froch is probably #1 currently.

Saying that, it's probably the most overrated aspect of his armoury.

To say Fury is a non puncher is ridiculous. Froch got dropped by Taylor, fair enough, but if you stay on your feet against the likes of Abraham, Johnson, Kessler and Bute then your chin is above decent.

Plus Chisora went 12 with the hard hitting Helenius. And Haye is one of the biggest punchers in the sport. It took a lot to put Chisora down.

Froch has a good chin, no doubt in that, Its his heart that's the bigger attribute though, he has a certain toughness you can't teach people, you either got it or you don't.
