Who has the best boxing skillz (TOP 10) you witness with your own two eyes. If you are 21 don't start saying Ali because we know your punk ass was not old enough to watch him fight.

It is knowledge of the fight game, a good boxer can fight well beyond his prime. Example, Roy Jones Jr. didn't have GREAT boxing skills, he was just a phenom. Roy Jones was so fast and had fast hand speed that he ignore the basics of boxing. He never had a jab, he always lead with a leaping right hand or leaping left. although it was beautiful I must admit, it now hurts him that he never learned how to control a fight with his jab. That is why to his day he can't keep fighters off him and he backs straight back in to the ropes until someone knocks him out. Another example Jeff Lacey, when Jeff was hot (pre-Caligahgi) his fight strategy was to trade shots, the body isn't made to just stand there and trade shots. That is why now that he has been exposed, he when he fights now he looks like a fish out of water.

    TOp 10

    1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. - he can fight going forward, backwards, at angles, infight, got great jab, ring generalship, and he is just down right smart.

    2. B. Hopkins - He is 46 years old and still champion and does not talk with a slurr

    3. James Toney - I know he is a little fat now but when he was in his prime he was a middle weight - 10 years later he is beating heavyweights. You may not like him but he knows his way around the ring. And he is only 5 foot 10 inches.

    4. Juan Manuel Marquez - he got to have boxing skills to give Manny the fight of his life. We all know that Manny is a little bad mother****er, so we know that Marquez must know all the ins and outs to boxing to give him a good fight.

    5. Lennox Lewis - I know alot of people don't like them but he beat every fighter he ever got in the ring with. He had power, a great jab, and great boxing knowledge.

    6. Erik Morales - Again he is still fighting now and givin really good fighters in their prime a good fight. He also beat the great Manny Pacman so you have to have good boxing skills.

    - I dont know how I forgot him, I think Floyd stole a lot of his fighting game

    8. Joe Calzaghe - I hate to say it but this unorthodox ******* gave out a lot of punish and didn't take a lot of punishment. He is the only fighter I ever so that would slap the other fighter to death.

    9. Holyfield - U can't take it away from him, he came up to heavy and beat almost all of them. He is still fighting to day mainly because he broke and winning. I mean he will never win another real championship but his boxing skillz doesn't allow him to get knockout like Roy Jones.

    10. Sergio Gabriel Martinez - the dude can flat out box. he got all the tools and great jab, foot movement, hand speed, and takes min punishment.

Why can't we say Ali if we're 21? Do you assume that all of us go blind, deaf, and dumb every time we watch one of his fights on DVD or Youtube?

Good list, but as big a fan as I am of Martinez, he reminds me more of RJJ: enormously gifted, but not skilled on the level of the other guys on the list. Martinez' balance is not good, he ends up missing wildly at times. That said, the guy's pretty amazing. I wouldn't put Lewis in a top 10 either. Of the guys I watched live, SRL, Hagler, Hearns and Duran would have to be on that list.

    In no Order

Ricardo Lopez- Did almost everything right in the ring, his left, right left uppercut combo was expertly thrown every single time and Knocked people down or out consistently.

Juan Manuel Marquez- Hes not textbook, he throws counterhook combinations and lead rights followed by left hook combinations. But everytime he punches he is still in balance to throw another punch. Which enables him to throw combinations better than anyone in the sport

Bernard Hopkins- Ring general master, he knew his opponents strengths and weaknesses and applied them to his own game. Clever footwork and doesnt waste anything

Floyd Mayweather- Technically gifted in every way, at times too defensive and wont allow his offence to flow. But his calmness in the ring is unmatchable

James Toney- Perfected the shoulder roll, could make a fighter miss from an inch away. Solid power and speed. And great confidence and calmness in the ring

First of all young fellow i was insulting your intelligence. The reason I say you had to actually witness them fight is because you didn't actually witness what they went through to get where they are at. I can tell you are a Manny Paciquio fan. I we didn't live through his era, when he is finish boxing, the story would tell you how hard of a fight he had against Marquez. It will just read that he won. When you watch a fighter fight, you get first hand view of the adversity that deal with, the level of competition, and sometimes their personal life will tear them up. That is why I respect the hell out of Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Frazier, Willy Pep, and etc. but I wasn't around to witness the fights.

I'm 31 years old but I know some older guys at the boxing gym I attend that has a totally different outlook on ALI. They all say he is an all time great, but they remember when the world went crazy when Ken Norton was robbed in both fights against Ali. They compared the robbery to when Paul Williams won the decision over Laura. You and I wasn't around to witness, but for the people who did they were disgusted.

Lets just say Paul Williams retires tomorrow and in twenty years they put him in the hall of fame because he truly only loss two fights. The younger generation will watch old highlights of this 6 foot 2 inch welterweight that threw a hundred punches a round, watch all his knockout hightlights and then start talking about how he was a great fighter. Then you (El Bujia) and I who actually witness Paul Williams fight will remember how he was damage goods after the Martinez fight. We will remember how he was exposed for having no boxing skills and couldn't stop a fighter from throwing a wild hayemaker. We will remember how Laura was cheated by boxing politics and how Paul Williams knowin his heart that he should not of won that fight.

That is why I told you to only talk about fighters you witness!!!!!!

(IN no way am I disrespecting any all time greats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    Why thank you.

You asked who were the best fighters you've seen with your own two eyes. I've seen most if not all of Ali's filmed fights, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't using someone else's eyes to watch them.

Really now? You can tell that by reading a two sentence post of mine about a different fighter? You'd be wrong either way.

That's why you watch the fight.

So watch them on DVD or Youtube. Problem solved.

I've seen those fights on film. What do you not understand about simply watching fights on film? Is it against your religion? Do you have a disorder which prevents you from watching old footage?

    That would be a shame.

You mean Lara, right? I'd agree with you here, but so long as the new generation is capable of watching old fight films and understanding boxing technique it shouldn't be a problem. In other words you're probably right.

    I have witnessed Ali.

Now that I think of it, you may be right about Martinez. He does fight with both arms down. The reason I mentioned him is because he has a good jab, he dosent take much punishment but you may be right, it may all be because of his size physical ability.

I see you are a very sensitive guy so I am not going to get in to a war of words with you. If you watch old footage then history is already written. I see you are more interested in me misspelling Lara name then the point I attempted to make. Trust young fellow (I don't mean it in a bad way so don't get your panties in a bunch) when you and I watch Ali on youtube and old footage, we are receiving a 10th of the experience that people who watch it live.

Think about my man, remember before Mayweather faught Mosley, the world was singing a different tune. Before the fight everybody was saying Floyd is Scared of Mosley, Mosley punch to hard, many people had Mosley winning by KO, Mosley bigger, and stronger. after the fight, the story is Mosley is old, he wasn't a tough competition, and etc. so when people look at the fight now, they don't give him credit for the win, it was like just another easy fight.

Since you on some kid ****, you can list fighters you never seen fight, you can even quote the people you here on ESPN if you want. I just want people real take on people they actually saw.

Hey ******* let me ask you a question, every Ali fight you watch don't you know if he will win or loss. Don't you know how he will win or loss. Don't you know why he will win or loss. So you really miss out on the feeling that we will get Mayweather and Pacman fight. The felling of two all time greats clashing and not really knowing who will win. That is how you really know how great a person is, not by sitting on your fat ass and watching youtube.

I guess Bill Russell was better than M. Jordan. I mean he did win 13 championships?

Great post bro I agree 100% and this is why: Look at mayweather and pacquiao, they both have top wins over big named fighters but we all know the downside to each fighters accomplishments. The future boxing fans will not.

No offense, but that's a pretty poor list.
