1. Pernell WhitakerI don't know loads about the division, but I don't think any beat him in his prime 2. Benny LeonardOnly loses to Pernell imo 3. Roberto DuranOnly loses to those two above. Care to chip in? And where would Lomachenko place?
The obvious omissions are Gans, McFarland, Armstrong and Mayweather. All have a case for best in the division.
1. Henry Armstrong: Stupidly strong at this weight. Actually a pretty big puncher with his INHUMAN workrate. Would beat any other LW IMO 2. Roberto Duran Rivals Armstrong. Superior infighting skills with slightly less workrate. Great puncher at LW and was still motivated at this weight. I pick him over Armstrong in a 12 rounder and Armstrong in a 15 rounder. 3. Benny Leonard The ultimate outboxer and boxer puncher at LW. Would get broken down by Armstrong and Duran but still a master 4. Joe Gans Same with Benny Leonard. Brutal boxer puncher. Slightly better stamina with slightly less skill than Leonard. Would favor Leonard in a 15 rounder by UD. 5. Floyd Mayweather Not a popular pick and he barely edged out the likes of Ambers, McFarland, Canzoneri and Welsh due to his defense and stamina. Unlike WW Floyd, LW Floyd has a good workrate. He doesn't have the power of Gans and Leonard but he's their league in ring generalship Also Loma is outside the top 10
1. Henry Armstrong: skill, workrate, strength, power...and once again, workrate! I think he is terrible match up at this weight. 2. The rest. Duran, Whittaker, Gans, Leonard, Ike all have solid arguments against each other IMO.
why does Gans lose to all 6 ? No way… skilled with power, great defense and feinting, saw openings and capitalized … And the master of the lead right, a lot to deal with here
My thoughts exactly...Duran overcomes and overwhelms everyone at lightweight...we ain't talking welter or middle....LIGHTWEIGHT...
What do you think about McFarland and Canzonieri H2H? Are they in top 10 ever based on who they beat and what they look on the film?
