How can U have either Klitschko while not having Lennox Lewis on that list?

Some of the contenders that Lewis beat could have been lineal champions if they fought today. Lennox fought better opposition that both Klitschkos together. I like Klitscko brothers a lot and I think they are underrated, but lets be honest... And whats more Vitaly>Wladimir. Maybe Wladimir achieved more than his brother, but if they fought in their primes Vitaly would probably KO Wlad.

I believe that Vitali Klitschko would have been a top ten fighter in any era, even the golden era of the 70s. I am not a huge fan of Vital's but the fact is the guy has tremendous power, an iron chin and plenty of heart. He was also a world amateur super heavyweight silver medallist, so the guy is obviously far more skilful than he looks. And he uses his often huge physical advantages extremely effectively. I totally agree with you in that often we view "Now" as best when that is often not the case. But the "Older" generation can sometimes be guilty of Viewing "Then" as best when in some cases that simply isn't so (And I am talking about all sports here, and not Klitschko)!! Hell I had a bloke say to me the other day that Carl Lewis would have beat Usain Bolt!!! I really do feel that Klitschko, no matter how robotic and one-dimensional he looks would have been a dangerous opponent for almost any heavyweight there has been. Of course, I am most certainly not saying that he would have beat them, far from it, but a peak Vitali would have always been a top ten contender, at least.

I'm not sure being taken out by Rahman is any less embarassing than being knocked down by a 188 pound Henry Cooper and being revived with illegal smelling salts. You can punch holes in any fighter's resume. You have Holyfield, who was beaten twice by a guy who was taken out by ham and eggers...

On their worst night, many great fighters had sub par performances. Lewis on his bets night was extremely difficult to beat. Liston quit on his stool and got down in one round against the light - punching Ali, that's not any better than being knocked out by a limited fighter with a big punch like Rahman.

Lennox would have earned my respect if he would have re matched Vitali and won. I feel like he ducked that fight as long as possible, eeked out a win due to the cut, and headed on down the road.

I think that a prime Wlad or Vitali would take a prime Lennox.

Hell, I would also say a prime Tyson takes all 3 of them, especially Lennox.

Tyson's problem was that by the time he lost to Lennox that he had lost the speed that he needed to get inside quickly and land heavy combos. He was stuck fighting Lennox fight. He couldn't win due to the size/reach/technical boxing advantages of Lennox. You could see Tyson mentally resign in the rounds before he was KO'ed.

The Lennox/Tyson fight was like watching an old lion being beaten down by a giraffe.

Watching that fight was awful. Nearly as bad as hearing Sarah Palin speak publicly and realizing she would cost us the election and we were going to be bled dry to pay for entitlement programs for the next four years.

    Sorry.. ranting. :hi:
