Suzie I always imagine you watching Walcott fights, listening to Ray Charles, and sipping a burbon, yet your what 19?

    1. I'm a huge Charles fan and see his tenure as more dominant with less inconsistancy than Walcott, and no I think Charles definately got the better of the series. I will concede outside of Louis, their top wins are very close. But remember Charles is the Mac Daddy of this era :hey

2.Well honestly I've only seen highlights of the first fight and need second opinions, from none Walcott fans on this fight, of which your probably his biggest fan on this board

    3. Again Charles relied on his natural gifts, Walcot was happy fighting flat footed, charles wasnt so much

    4. Wait a miniute both Charles and Walcott lost SDs to Ray. There was less than a year between the last Walcott fight and the Charles KO victory over Ray. Charles aruably beat Ray and in the rematch KO'd him, could you ask for more from Charles? After all Ray arguably beat Walcott twice

No way, the series went 2-2, but walcott had the only knockout of the series. Walcott has the edge.

thats because walcott was much more versatile than charles, and better well rounded.

Now your just grasping for straws......Walcott DID beat ray twice. in the 3rd fight, walcott knocked ray down THREE times and won a clear cut decision according to the new york times.....yet u believe ray could have won this fight?

werent u the one who claimed charles suddenly "aged" in months leading up to the 3rd and 4th walcott fights.......why can't the same thing happen to ray? When your 37-38 years old every month counts.....Ray was red hot fresh off a 64-1 winning streak headed into walcott fight, and walcott beat him. The 2nd charles fight, fight reports claims ray tired badly...which shows me ray had turned into a old man and his condition bailed on him because of age.

Might I add....Charles heavyweight title reign was patheticlly embarrasing....He defended his title 5 times against unrated IBC controlled ham and eggers valentino, lesnevich, beshore, barone, oma. , and many of those guys lasted a while. With young hungry dangerous heavyweight contenders out there like bob baker, clarence henry, rocky marciano, roland lastarza.......charles instead decided to fight a 35 year old fat lee oma, C level lightheavyweight barone, C level journeyman 5'9 beshore, completley shot lesnevich, and a half blind semi retired valentino.... With young studs like henry baker marciano lastarza dying for a chance.

Walcott 1945-1947 title run where he went 9-1 against top 10 rated contenders in 3 years......and guys like gomez, murray, ray, sheppard were the divisions best punchers, not to mention quality young boxers like bivins, maxim, baksi, oma and he capped it off with a boxing lesson over the greatest heavyweight of all time. more impressive than charles run.

walcott also knocked out harold johnson in 3 rounds, while harold beat charles(though my scorecard read charles the winner, it was close)......walcott knocked harold down in the 2nd round, then wen harold got up walcott landed a punch on johnsons back similiar to the one louis nailed schmeling with....damaging harolds back so bad he couldnt continue the next round.

    Ali lost Frazier I...

Can't believe nobody else pointed that out...

But other than that little nitpick, very good list, and cool concept for a thread.

I might argue Firpo over Willard on Dempsey's list; on Jeffries list, I think Ruhlin2 might be more significant than Corbett2, also didn't Jeffries beat Sharkey2X?

Firpo vs Willard -- I think Firpo was a better scalp than the old Willard. But the Willard fight was the better Dempsey performance.
