I like Ponce hes even an acquaintence of mine, (worked out at my gym for about a month before the Broner fight) But pfp hes probablyy even slower than Margo.. Margo wasnt to smooth and on the slow side but he made good use of his size, relentless, stamina,Chin and power .. He had better wins than Ponce too... In a pfp match Margo would have beat Ponces conqueror worse, faster and easier than he did Cotto... His beat down over then Pfp top 5 Cotto, Cintron 2x,,Six heads Lewis,Clottey are good wins as well as win over a up and coming Martinez and a quite a few other solid guys is pretty impressive resume IMO... His loss to Mosley was the only time ih his prime that he was dominated,,, Also thought his fight with then feared PW was very close.
I rank Morales higher than Barrera. I think people look too much into the h2h 2-1 score for Barrera but thru 3 fights I dont feel Barrera proved any superiority over Morales & Erik has the better resume outside of their trilogy, he also should be a 4 weight champ as I feel he beat Diaz, he never lost the Maidana fight either IMO, he would have become LWW interim champ if the decision went his way in that one.
I think Morales was the best boxer of the 3, personally... he didnt always fight the smartest vs every opponent (which us fans were glad for as we seen some cracking fights due to this) but when he put it all together he was a fkn great fighter. All 3 men are excellent boxers tho, no doubt.
There is nothing between the speed & power of EM & MAB IMO. Barrera is a more fluid combination puncher, has an edge in defense & more often than not lands the better punches from close range....... Morales has the better jab, better footwork, better chin (cant see how this can be debated tbh), has more heart when things are not going his way aka the drive to come back from tough spots & is the better distance boxer. He was better at 122 than Barrera was at any weight, only Gomez might actually rank higher there. I also think Morales won the first 2 fights & the clearest win by either man in their trilogy was the 2nd fight for Morales IMO... that was a very poor decision. I dont expect many to agree with everything Ive stated here but thats why we`re here :thumbsup
