that was the first thing i thought of when i saw the title.

Zepeda has nothing for Tank. He's far too easy to hit and will likely be KO'd within 7.

zepeda controlled distance very well. was allowed to stay at his preferred range throughout the fight. used his legs defensively, as well as his waist when holding ground. very versatile with his right hand. doubles it up nicely, both as jab and hook. roach doesnt have the movement or range from the outside to deal with what zepeda brings. and hes not a rhythm fighter so struggles to time zepeda in between flurries. zepeda can set a blistering pace if you allow him entrance into your space.

 

Zepeda is a real Mexican throwback fighter; there's nothing to dislike about him at all, but I still think he has limitations when it comes to becoming number one at the weight. Roach was riding high after a career-best performance against a completely uninterested version of Tank. That's Davis's fault; Roach turned up and should have had a career-defining win over a "generational" talent. But he was lucky against Pitbull, really; I had Cruz winning 115-113, but I know a few people had it wider. Pitbull is relentless and a test for anyone, but he is also not an elite fighter, and Roach is the same; both solid but B-grade fighters.

Credit to Zepeda for doing what he had to do and completely outworking Roach, but having watched both of those Tevin Farmer fights, Zepeda could still be in that bracket himself. I think Zepeda is a bit too predictable to truly take over at 135.

I'd pick Mason and Muratalla to beat him, Mason, especially; that first Farmer fight set the blueprint, and Mason is a far more skilled, explosive southpaw and still getting better. If Zepeda fought Noakes, Schofield, or Andy Cruz, I think he loses to at least one of them, but they're all excellent fights, and it'd be great to see them all happen at some point.
